That sounds like something way past my paygrade!
Sounds to me like now is a good time to learn. Not the main stem of the plant but take a branch thatās really tall. pinch it together like youāre squeezing a straw. Generally The stem will collapse, and you just fold the branch down sideways. And LST is super easy. if you have some wire around, solid copper wire, or something like that preferably insulated or nursery Velcro. Just pull your plants branches down a little bit lower and use clips to attach the wire or Velcro to your pot easy.
Give it a shot. At this point, you have nothing to lose cause if something went wrong and you lost a branch itās early enough for that plant will recover no problem. ![]()

@ArtVandalay I have a record of every Rez change with all of the relevant info. Keeping a record is a personal thing but it has proven very helpful and has allowed me to avoid repeating a few mistakes. Iām excited for you! Growing cannabis and hanging out with these guys has been wonderful therapy and I learn something new here every day! Got Get Em!!!
Thanks @truthhound !
By Rez change, do you mean reservoir change? This is the only time I have grown so many plants at one time (10), and that is only because one of my last plants turned out to be male and I ended up with a ton of seeds (this was the first time I ran into a male plant). So I figured I would see if they were any good and tried germinating about ten, and seven sprouted! So for water, I bought fifteen one-gallon jugs of distilled water and, after having used that water, I just refilled them with my RO water. I grow a bunch of super hot peppers and have really enjoyed getting into this growing. And everyone here has been incredibly helpful and friendly to this newbie.
Is it normal that nearly five tablespoons of pH Up is required to raise a gallon of RO+nutrients water from a pH of 4.6 to close to 6.2? That is the amount of the Atlas pH Up I had to use for one gallon yesterday.
pH up always seems to use a lot more to move numbers than the pH down does. Ever seen the meme pH down one drip 6.7 2 drips 6.Ćŗ 3 drips 3.2 lol. Thatās about it with the pH down too. pH up first I went to use it and was like wow more and more and more where as the pH down was a few drips and was way too much. A table spoon of pH up does about the same as a drop of pH down on moving numbers around lol. Kinda weird eeh.
For 1 gallon of volume it seems a little much but if your meter is calibrated and accurate then you can be confident with the results. For my 5.5 gallon reservoir I use maybe 5ml to 15ml depending on what I am doing. The nutes I use for the Veg stage seem to drop the PH more than my bloom nutes so it changes how much UP/Down I use. I also recommend that you Shake The Absolute SHIT out of your nutrient containers before you pour it.
Gotcha @truthhound and @PreyBird1 ! I did shake it but maybe not enough. I will recalibrate it today. I was going to buy a package of potassium carbonate to make my own pH increasing solution. But I read that completely dissolving the powder into water is very time consuming.
Could be a tester issue. Sometimes they go bad. I ended up buying a couple high end testers and the blie labs is thee best ive used. Vivosun make a decent cheap one. Biggest problem is you have to keep them clean calibrated or it can mess you up. I like to have a couple testers to verify my readings. And to verify if the other meter is working correctly.
Damn 5 tablespoon? Lol shake the absolute shit outta them ![]()
This is the set I have. I just calibrated it, so weāll see next time I mix up the potion!
Water pH Meter and TDS Meter, LAWNFUL pH and 3 in 1 TDS&EC Water Tester Combo, Turbidity Meter, ±0.01 pH Accuracy ±2% F.S Accuracy TDS/EC/Temperature Meter, Pen Type and Handheld, PPM Meters https://a.co/d/4oRe2FX
Iād see about investing into atleast an apera.ph 20 had rhos meters and started to have issues with the grow calibrated the sticks and snake shit occured a week later. The meters donāt last long and r not totally accurate when I received my apera I put the 2 side by side after calibrating both and the cheapo was almost 2 points off the apera. Prolly why I was having so many grow.issues and yellowish leaves then. Lol. Honestly I got the ppm.meter also and I never use it pH is about the most important part and to me the ppm meter was a waste of 60.bucks lol . Lights nutes and pH meter the most important parts of the grow. Then genetics play the roll after that.
Any ideas on what is causing this isolated issue? Otherwise, itās a sea of green. These are the May 20 plants.
Recalibrated the pH meterā¦letās just say it was slightly off in the negative! It is fixed now. I prepared a gallon of water with Cal-Mag and nutrients, and the ppm was 1500. Dakine420ās info sheet says, at this phase of growth and with the proper amount of nutrients, their recommended ppm is 1000 max. Is 1500 ppm a problem? The RO water by itself was 23 ppm.
If you have never use these nutrients before I highly recommend you add water to get the numbers down two around 900. Itās just a crapshoot at this point because you added everything in. That particular nutrient is very hot. If you use it at full strength thereās a good chance you will give your plants a good burn. I have been using that for about a year and Iām always at 75% strength or less. If you cook them you canāt fix it. You can maintain them and keep them going and they will produce but you canāt fix the damage thatās done. So I would suggest thinning it out a little bit. Next time you mix the nutrients, check your numbers of your nutrients before you add anything else. Such as Calmag, silica, molasses whatever. The numbers that they give you are for their product only not all the other stuff youāre adding to it. Every time I mix it up exactly according to the proper weights for a gallon, my numbers have been high. As time goes on, you will learn how much of what and when. It just takes a little time to gain experience. ![]()

1500 is way too hot man. You can get away with half of what dakine says to use. Always remember the numbers are designed to make them money. My favorite is use with every irrigation. The more nutrients you use the more your going to need and then the more they sell because you need more Right. I would totally listen to @happilyretired he knows what hes talking about. And even my top quality buds that grew the biggest they never hit more than 1900 ppms and thats a lot of nutrients. So i stay around 1200-1600 and maybe if i was using co2 id bump it up more. Heres how i mix mine.
Per gallon or 1 full scoop of each nutrient for 2 gallons.
- .25g or half a scoop of calmag.
- .25g or half scoop of base.
- .25g or half a scoop of grow.
Thats like 50% of what they recommend. Also when i get rocking i use a lot of these nutrients so i buy the big 5000G jars of nutrients.
You may want to defoliate a little also.
I defoliated about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Is it safe for the plants to do that again now? I was concerned about the lack of light penetration because of so many thick plants in such a small tent, so yesterday I placed two grow lights and one 5000k white light on the tent floor facing up in the hope of giving light to the underside of the plants.
I only made one gallon of that high ppm water, so I will use much less nutrients next time to try to keep ppm under 1000. Thanks so much for all of the help!
Well under lighting cannabis has negative effects.
The lower bud sites will start growing to the light source. And the plant doesnt develop right. There a lot of info on this. Search with the magnifying glass next to your avitar. I think side lighting is better but i have never done it myself.
Rats. Well, that makes sense, I will remove those floor lights and try to hang them so they shine from the side of the tent instead of up from the floor. Iāll go ahead a defoliate them today.
