Good questions. Phenotypes to put it simply are the offspring of the mother and father. The seeds are like siblings (children) same parents but all are different but similair. No seeds will be exactly the same as the mother. If only that were so. Anyways this is why I select the ones with the best traits. Then cross pollinate from the same strain siblings and mate them and grow them out. And get there seeds. And you can backbreed back to the original strains. I absolutely love the amazing example dr grinspoon and his work bringing back his pure HERLOOM sativa. Fascinating work he has done. Its a strain on my bucket list. When i get my tissue culture going im going to have some amazing strains in my collection.
Thanks @PreyBird1, that’s fascinating!
It was so much easier, for me, operating heavy machinery… but I have way much fun now!!!
Oh and on your question you get different phenotypes every time a seeds is born. No way to tell.
So you have to grow the seed to find out if it’s going to be the right phenotype?
Does your chance of getting a given phenotypes augment with the amount of times you crossbreed it back? (weird sentence, hope it makes sense)
Ive been learning a lot about breeding crossing and gentetic. And seed making but im soooooo fascinated with micro propogation and tissue cultivated plants.
It can because if you keep going back you can get the original genetics very very very hard to do and time consuming. Took 32yrs for dr grinspoon to get the genetics back all the way.
There is a very smart guy on the pro side. I find his perpetual cloning and having the same clone for 35yrs amazing. No mother stocks just consistent cloning. 1000 clones into 2000 a season every year. @Farmer_Dan smart guy i love reading what this guys says. Hes my cloning role model. Your the MAN dan!
@kapouic i love the questions. I find this whole forum very stimulating! I love to interact and learn and share info! Wonderful family here. I like Ilgm also but i dont have time for 2 forums. So i wander around here causing trouble.
Those are so frosty!!
Wow!! Looks fabulous!!
Which phenotype is the last one? I love the colors on the darker ones. Great job, as usual with you
That is the runtz. The purple one phenotype #2
It looks ‘’deadly’’! Seriously great looking plants!
It has a smell to it like kind a raunchy.
Wow! Nice and sparkly … My friend has some Runtz on the go right now, excited to see the outcome
Whats your friends name? I’ve been main lining these runts for a while now. Always good to see other people that have the strain growing.
It me;)! Lol
It’s hoppiefrog
Well fancy meeting you good souls here! Hows the night treating ya?
