Side lighting

Hello all, personally I sucks at the whole posting thing but do learn alot from reading everyone’s posts, I finally have a questions I am considered a noob im on my 3rd grow and what havnt I learned from each one, but now to the question, I have 2 1000w led lights in a a 5x5 I know it might seem overkill, they are dimmable tho, but if I were to add a 600w or 2 for side lighting to help penetrate through and supply light to the lowere half of th plant will it increase my yield to make it worth it?

I’ve never tried it but in theroy yes it should work

It does work, but I don’t think anyone has measured the difference it makes. Bugbee proved that it will work, but he never checked to see how effective it was. At least not that I know of.

We have 2 small blurples and once the canopy is up and flowering, they go on the bottom in opposite corners and are aimed up into the bottom of the canopy. We did this last time and the larf was almost as big as the buds themselves. The plants will drink a lot more when you add light so be ready for it.

@vxjayxv hate to say this but theres no way you have 2 1000 watt leds. Someone lied to you about the wattage. I run lots of leds and quantum boards. And I have the best led light made on the market.
beside my own light builds. None of my led builds are 1000 watts. And i can can bleach and totally melt plants with my light’s. Side lighting will increase the yield. But too much light can mess up the plants feeling of gravity and make the leaves turn towards better light. Im curious about what lights you have now. Im not ragging on you. I like to try stuff. I have T5 lights in led and fluorescent, mh 400 watt 600 watt 1000 watt, Hps in 400,600,1000watt, i have 17 quantum boards, and a Foshe aries 680watts.
We all got suckered into shitty lights at one point i got a few lol. We all like to help so ask us before you buy anything! There are some good growers here just ask us well help out.

@preybird1 Your right they arnt gonna be true 1000w it’s just what they are sold as, one of them is a much better upgrade than the shittier ones I had before so I got 2 lol, the one I have now they are mars hydro 1000w. And I want to use there 600w on the side just to help bud growth during flower. To be fair I only started smoking when covid started I lost my job and found a new hobby lol so I’m open to everyone’s opinions and views because I’ve got a lot to learn in every aspect

Im running hps and led together in my big tent waiting on a return of a warranty on a driver for my other light build

I have to be careful since im in a metal shed so I’m currently trying to prevent too much heat, moving from the central valley cali to Arkansas is a big climate change so this has been good education, also chose Durban poison and sour diesel for my environment with my lights on and it 80 outside my tent will be 90 degrees and during Veg I won’t let humidity get higher than 70% when I pop the dehumidifier on I can get it to 50%, the climate here stresses me it’s changing every 30 minutes it seems, oh and i run co2 when the inline fan isnt on

If you go in there and breathe once a day for 2 minutes, you will put more CO2 than the plants need into the air. CO2 is once of those things that’s really only needed when you have a large grow and you need super consistent grows. Anything less than a 20x20 room should never need CO2. We breathe out that much in about 5 minutes.

good luck with ur grow u will get all the advice u need on this site. Before u decide u want to do something or buy something for ur grow check with the other members from GN they will; help u and point u in the right direction. Good luck and be safe

I find it does help but not significantly enough to justify buying one lol. I used an 80W iLBar vertically on the side of my tent for flower cycle and on harvest I found only a slight improvement in g/w. On conclusion I would think just upgrading your main light would have a better outcome. Good Luck
