Does anyone use or recommend a small A.C. unit. I’m thinking that I could use one in my drying room. Upstairs in a 2 story, and while winter isn’t terrible, with warmer weather coming there’s no way I can get to that 70° area. I run a small humidifier, and just an oscillating fan to move air, but everything seems to dry super fast. Usually within a couple of days. Have been looking at the small portable AC units
Great question! I will be following this one. What I have read is that you are better off modifying a wall mount AC than using an inexpensive free standing unit. There are lots of YouTubes about the wall mount mods.
I had considered a window unit, but to get to 70, I’d probably have to run it during the winter too. But that would only be a couple of degrees. I almost feel like anything other than a small portable unit would be overkill. It’s a small 10 x 10 bedroom
I was advised to get a split system for my 10 x 12 room
I guess I hoped that a portable would be sufficient, and could be easily moved to the grow room as well. Also, I don’t have a big budget to make this happen, but feel I loosing so much with stuff trying way to fast.
@MrBlue is the ac guy
Portable ac have bad reviews. Mini splits to me work great I have three… @happilyretired has one to was supposed to have it hooked up Monday but I never heard.
I feel like that is a little out of my price range, after having one hooked up etc.
Well get a larger window unit
Just for drying not growing?
Correct. Just for drying. I grow in the basement so my Temps don’t get crazy hot. I appreciate the help!
My basements cool, you have a place u can dry down there? More ideal, keep Rh around 60-62%
I really don’t. My dogs have their own small room for when I’m gone, and with the grow room, and already small basement I don’t have a lot of room left down there. I had an empty bedroom so figured it was my best option.
If it’s just for drying I’d use a portable ac all day especially if you have one already just clean it extremely well first
