Transplanted seedling suddenly turning brown

I transplanted this photo fem to a pot of buffered coco coir + worm castings + perlite with a mulch topping of barkey straw two days ago and, suddenly, it’s turning brown.
I sprinkled some Trifecta Myco Supreme into the transplant hole.
I’m using Organics Alive nutrients and, per their instructions, only used the V-N Dry Soluable 10-2-2 in a gallon of water.
It is in a tent with temp at 81f and 82% humidity. Lights are 18/6.
Any ideas what’s going on?

From looking at it I am guessing genetics. I have had seedlings just up and die like that too. Never did figure out why. Healthy as a horse and then dead.

How much in weight did you put in on the OA nutes?

Stop looking at those two leaves, and look at the rest of the plant. It is very happy and healthy looking. Probably a little transplant shock. if those two ugly leaves are bothering you, cut them off. I would leave them there because the plant has started to eat them and no reason to not let it, other than they’re ugly. :v:t3:

It was per their instructions; I think 1gm/gallon water.

Week one transplant is 5 grams per gallon. But not to worry better to be under than over. Hap is right, don’t sweat it, wait and see what it does, it will probably be just fine, other than the purple tips it looks great.

From this morning. The discoloration doesn’t seem to have spread, so that’s good news.

Hypochlorous acid cleans roots from pathogens.

Pathogens are microorganisms or biological agents that can cause disease in a host organism. They include:
Bacteria: Single-celled organisms that can multiply rapidly and produce toxins.
Viruses: Non-living particles that invade and replicate within host cells.
Fungi: Eukaryotic organisms that can cause infections on the skin, nails, and respiratory system.
Protozoa: Microscopic, single-celled organisms that can cause infections in the digestive and circulatory systems.
Parasites: Larger organisms that live on or in a host and obtain nutrients from it.
Pathogens can spread through various means, such as contact with infected individuals, contaminated surfaces, or through the air.

I cut off those leaves and it was going fine, but now this is happening this morning. It looks different to me than what was going on with it previously. I didn’t get that acid spray because the seedling seemed to be fine after removing those leaves. I’m going to look up a photo sheet showing various plant problems so I can, hopefully, identify the issue.

So can you chug a quart and get rid of all your pathogens?

Friend wanted to know……

When you transplanted it you could have possibly did something to the roots it looks healthy to me besides that one leaf

You sure can lol.

Each feeder root is attched to a cell on the leaf. So when you have root issue you see the cells dying, as you see in the picture. I bet if you up root them, you will find brown or reddish roots in an area.

Roots support the tree and absorb water and nutrients. They transport these liquids through tiny tubes that run all the way up the stem to the leaves. This allows the tree to send its resources from one area to another. Some tubes, called xylem, mostly carry water from the soil to the leaves. Other tubes, called phloem, mainly carry sugar and other products made in leaves to parts where they are needed.

Overwatering and Poor Drainage:
These factors create ideal conditions for root rot pathogens to thrive.
Treating Root Rot:
Repotting: If the infection is not severe, repotting the plant in fresh, well-draining soil and removing the affected roots can help.
Pruning: Pruning back affected foliage can reduce the plant’s overall demand for water and nutrients.
Preventative Measures: Proper watering techniques, ensuring good drainage, and choosing appropriate potting mixes can help prevent root rot.

Root rot, caused by various soilborne pathogens, can manifest in plants as leaf symptoms including yellowing, wilting, and stunted growth. These symptoms indicate the plant’s inability to absorb water and nutrients due to root damage.

I don’t understand.

Sorry. I’m not in the best frame of mind today.

Your plant is fine, don’t worry it to death. I have leaves do strange things all the time especially when they are young. I have learned to ignore it, don’t like it but I have learned to ignore it.

It’s tough when you’re battling severe depression and doubt your abilities for mostly everything. I’ll try not to sweat it.

A few things stand out here. First, coco coir is inert and needs consistent calcium and magnesium—did you buffer it yourself or buy pre-buffered? Even if it says ‘buffered,’ sometimes it’s not enough. Cal/mag deficiencies can show fast, especially in early transplants.

Second, worm castings are great, but they can vary a lot in nutrient content and salt levels. Combined with the 10-2-2 right after transplant, it might’ve been a bit hot for a fresh root system.

Third, 82% humidity is pretty high unless it’s still in early veg or you’re trying to root clones. That much moisture with bark mulch could also cause issues like damping off or root rot if airflow isn’t solid.

Lastly, lights—how strong are they and how far from the canopy? Photos can stress quick if the light intensity is too high right after transplant.

If it’s browning fast, I’d back off any feeding, check runoff pH/EC if possible, and make sure the coco isn’t staying too wet. A pic would help too!

I doubt that it is the OA nutes. I am feeding my newest seedling a teaspoon each of 10-2-2 plus a teaspoon of the 4-5-5 OA nutrients in a gallon of water. The OA is carbon based from fermented plants and there is something different about it. It doesn’t seem to burn like chemical salts do.

Canna coco, and pearlite. One whole teaspoon of each 10-2-2 and 4-5-5 Organics Alive nutrients.
