Vacuum Oven Cold Trap Recommendations

Hello everyone!

I’m currently working as lead extractor for a type 7 volatile extraction facility, and I am currently looking into setting up a cold trap for our vacuum ovens so we can protect our pumps and collect terpene content.

Is there anyone here who can recommend a good brand or model to use for this purpose? Largest capacity available is preferred, as we will be processing in bulk.

Any leads will be highly appreciated!

If you dont mind a bit of DIY, you can always make one with stainless tubing and swagelock fittings in a ice/glycerine bath.
Whats your budget? There are a few lab grade appliances that would work well but those typically are found in the $1-3k range.

Something like this can be easily bought or fabricated. frabrication also allows you to tailor the device for your specific needs (size, volume, flow rate, QD etc)

PM me if you would like to talk!

Thanks for the recommendation, but we are currently looking at cold traps which are powered by electricity, so we don’t have to use dry ice.

Since I posted this thread, we’ve been looking at this bad boy:

You might also want to look into Across International 2/3 the cost of the Thermo Trap

I did check it out, but the things that sold me on the Thermo Scientific were:

  • KF25 flanges, wider opening for bigger flow rate, as we will be using this for multiple vacuum ovens, not just one.
  • Stainless attachments and catch container. I like stainless because its more durable.

Really, the glass barbed fittings were a deal breaker for me. I have no doubt it works just fine, but it’s not what we’re looking for for our application.
