What does everyone use to clean their tents after a grow?

Good morning everyone.

As i was driving to work today thinking about the bliss i have in my tent right now drying, i started to think about what i should use to clean my ACI 5x5 after my first grow.

I have been doing the norm (at least i think) during the grow…wiping up spills and vacuuming the floor in between the plants, but what do i use to CLEAN the tent?

I use tap water in my humidifier, so i have that white chalky stuff everywhere.

So peroxide and water? Vinegar and water? Bleach and water? Water? Soap and water?

Obviously i do not want to damage my equipment with too harsh of a cleaner. So i am curious what everyone is using to clean their grow areas.

Thanks!

Hi @schweddybawlz

I use soap to wash down walls first and then a solution of bleach and water to clean the room.

Sounds like your tap water could be high in lime/calcium “brack water”. I live in an area with very high lime water and we have settling tanks to firstly allow the lime to settle and then pump through a basic filter before it reaches the house to secondary tanks.

If lime is your problem, it could also mean your water has a high pH. So good idea to get your water tested to see where it sits, e.g rain water generally has a perfect rain water. Further to the above if your water is high in lime it could be damaging components in your geyser like the thermostat etc. Get it tested and might help you with your plants.

The conditions of my water you described are on the money.

I have tested the PH of my water and jt varies between 7.8 and 8.1…the water is hard.

We were thinking of getting a water softener, but that puts salt into the water so……

I was thinking of a soap and water mixture, and then a rinse with a vineager/water rinse. I hate working with bleach because i screw up my cloths every-time i use it.

Just get you a RO water filter system. I had the same high calcium water, still do for the house except my plants water. I only use it for my plants, couldn’t care less about the shower and the tap and toilet. My PPM was right in the middle of acceptable from the tap, but the chlorine nixed using it for my plants. I got a medical grade 30 gal barrel for cheap which had previously contained surfactant for the manufacturing of pills. Cleaned it and filled it with water let it sit for a month and drained it and left it outside in the sun for a week to “air out”.

On the tent cleaning, I use ammonia and water mixed, ammonia will kill any critter I know of and it is mylar friendly for the tent. It’s also a real good cleaner for stains and will also break down lime deposits. HTH
