What is happening in Humboldt County?

I have seen lots of feeds popping up on social media about growers in Humboldt County fighting for survival and regulations. Am I missing something, what is happening?

Humboldt County, part of California’s famed Emerald Triangle, is one of the nation’s most fertile agricultural regions.

“If the signature-gathering efforts for Measure A were truthful, this initiative never would have made it to the ballot,” Humboldt County Growers Alliance Executive Director Natalynne DeLapp said in a statement published by the North Coast Journal.

“Claiming to protect small cannabis farmers and public participation, while in fact targeting small cannabis farmers with a panoply of new restrictions and locking broken policy in place permanently, is exactly the subversion of the democratic process that elections laws are designed to prevent.”

Measure A, dubbed the Humboldt Cannabis Reform Initiative, gathered more than 7,000 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot, according to the North Coast Journal.

It’s pretty simple, Chris. The state government wants the tax dollars from the licensed dispensaries, they don’t get it from the independent growers, so through legislation they are shutting them down. Don’t be surprised when the other “legalized states” start following suit. It’s all about government control and taxes on EVERYTHING. It’s OK for US (government) to sell and make a profit and taxes on pot, just NOT YOU.

Same happening in Canada, state funded LP’s and dispensaries making millions of dollars and small mom and pop producers cant afford to pay their tax. Government intervention was always going to kill the industry.
