I regularly test my runoff on weekly base and i have never seen salt build up . I grow on hot and dry clime in greenhouses with constant feedings, drain to waste with little sometimes none runoff , by the logic i should see fast build up of salts . Where the food goes , does the plant eat all of that ( I dont belive ) or its finishing on CEC sites ( which again i dont believe that peat moss has so big buffering ability ) ? And another question does treating food reservoir with H2O2 neutralize some of the micronutrients like IRON ?
how are you measuring all this?
Mostly just collecting the runoff , but also using the PourThrough and 1:2 method . A friend who is using same feeding schedule of GH and different soilless mix had 4.0 EC reading ( i was curious and checked his medium ) , mine is always pretty much same as the sump value (around 1.5 EC ) .
Ah, DTW. How wasteful. That explains why you spend more on water than nutes. And why no salt buildup.
Lol , i dont spend anything on water There is a creek right in front of my door
you put water cost in front of nutes in another msg on here. must be that that language barrier lol
I was not talking about the cost , i was talking about the importance of factors for bigger yield . Lighting, Environment , Medium quality and Quality Water are more important then nutes . Almost all of the problems connected with nut deficiency are not because there is not enough nutes , its mostly because the roots are not able to pull those nutes , either because of cold temperatures, pure watering practice , PH imbalance , salt buildup and etc . But with nutes we can manipulate as much as we want same as the companies that make them , thats why we give them so big importance . I have seen people growing with 1.0 EC with basic things and people growing with 5.0 EC with all kind of expensive root accelerators and PK boosters and there is no difference .
Nutes will build in peat if the Nutes that are being used are 100% carbon made with the right chelation. Holding capacity and cation exchange is what is important. Coco has great holding capacity and pest does also . Nutes won’t hold in sandier soils. If ppm or run off just running through it means they chelation of the actual fertilizer is made cheap and it has nothin in the formula that will attach. Normally synthetic high NPK Products. Try the RKAGCANNA Flourish products and they will build in the soil no matter what and you can test it . Build soil feed the soil feed the plant . That’s just my thoughts. Many ways to skin a cat
The only mention I can even find of chelation carbon nutrients is a newage nutrient site. Nutrients are nutrients. Calcium is calcium nitrogen is nitrogen. Carbon made? Lol. Let’s stick to science.
I’ll be happy to send data. Nutrients are nutrients 100% but how much of the nutrients in the bottle are actually available to the plant ? That’s where chelation comes in. Anything with amino acids / humid acid . If you see EDTA on the nutrients label on your products and I don’t care what company it is then that product is chelated w edta aka cheap salt. Carbon nutrients is something I specialize in and building for 10 years . Agriculture biotechnology
