🍃 AMA With Devon Langford aka "Hydro Chef" with Hawthorne Gardening Weds February 20th 11 AM PST

Hey again thanks for ? Social responsibility and sustainability play a huge part in every way Hawthorne does business. From the way we source our Coco to how our nutrients are manufactured we take it as our responsibility as a company to set the trends for sustainability in our industry. Sometimes it cost more money to be sustainable but from solar powered water heating for our mix tanks to ethically sourced ingredients Hawthorne continues to learn from and with the industry.

It’s admirable that Hawthorne has taken on social responsibility as a basic tenet of it’s business model. Consumers want to see that the companies we purchase from are concerned with the well-being of the planet.

Final question, I promise :grinning:

It seems like Hawthorne has recently taken a more sustainable approach to product R&D and deployment. We know that regulations are changing every as it pertains to what products growers can use on their plants. How does Hawthorne stay ahead of those changing regulations while still delivering an effective product?

One more: where do you see the cannabis industry in 5 years? Where do think Hawthorne will be in 5 years?

Hawthorne has brought some of the most talented people in the gardening industry together with its acquisitions. Tapping our teams resources and knowledge of the industry has enabled us to set industry trends as opposed to reacting to the new ones. This is one of our driving force when it comes to R&D. We don’t want me too products Hawthorne wants to push the limits of gardening with a focus on new technology and sustainability. Imagine a world where people care about growing healthy food as much as they care about growing pharmaceutical botanicals! Thank you.

I like to dream of this world with you, my friend.

This has been a wonderfully informative AMA for which we are all very grateful! @hydroponicchef, thanks for taking the time to be with us today – and for taking an extra hour to answer all these great questions! To all who participated in the AMA: a very big thanks to you too!

I think our forum members may have more questions for you. Can they reach out to you here on the GN forum?

Might we invite you back for another AMA in the future?

Thank you for your time and great information. I have a question. What products do you suggest that can be used in combination with biological predators in a preventative IPM? Some people combine some registered pesticides and fungicides in veg, then introduce predators in flowering? Some use the predators all the way through which can be costly. I would love to know what you think.
