There’s lots of ways to treat powdery mildew currently but very few companies have gone to the length to bring a EPA registered product to the market. Defguard is the answer to the powdery mildew plague. Safe to use in all stages of growth or bloom and registered to be used on combustibles. Depends on the what part of the life cycle the plant is in. Grower insight i think it was has a beautiful paper written on it and those are the guide lines i follow. I come from a power engineering back ground. so i treat my rooms like an operations fine tuning them constantly. Have not had the luck to have self controlled rooms yet.

It’s a unique strain of the bacillus bacteria in the sense that it is super aggressive toward other bacteria and molds. It controls plant and soil pathogen‘s by competing with them for their food source. Literally eating them out of house and home. The plant gives the bacteria a place to live and in return the bacteria eats harmful mold and bacteria‘s in the root zone and on the plant. They achieve almost like a symbiotic relationship instead of systemic. This product can be used in all stages all the way up to late bloom. Always remember to take precautions when spraying. 50 mL per gallon is the heaviest dosage recommended

Bacillus amyloliquefacienz is a non-pathogenic soil bacterium. Similar to other Bacillus species, B. amyloquefaciens is capable of producing endospores allowing it to survive for extended periods of time. The species also shows some antifungal properties which are influenced by environmental nitrogen availability

Safe to use with all fertilizer programs. While it’s not recommended to be tank mixed with nutrients it won’t have any harmful effects when used as directed by itself as root drench or foliar spray. Defguard is OMRI certified and EPA registered and compatible with a organic garden.

Not necessarily. When I refer to organics, I am referring to a nutrient program that is not based in synthetic sources of NPK.

Great to know! With that in mind, is it recommended that the grower pH balance prior to adding the Defguard? Could the acid/base in the pH have a deleterious effect on the microorganisms in the product?

Defguard has a wider range of effectiveness. It’s bio-effect is at its most active between pH 6 and 8. It’s important to take into consideration pH when using your pest control products. If you consult the label every product will have the optimum pH range for application. This is for several reasons one to not burn your plants and also to make sure the product is going to be the most effective.

While we’re on the subject of getting the most out of your control products i’d like to go over the benefits of pairing certain products together to receive synergistic effects that will help you get the most out of your IPM schedule. Many of these products were formulated to be used together to help the effectiveness of each product. Certain pests respond different when combining control products and one of the most effective pairings is AzaMax with Prevasyn when combating mites. The active ingredient in Prevasyn capsicum helps the azadirachtin in AzaMax to be more effective and helps put some space between intervals of application thus you are using less pesticides long-term.
