Arizona outdoor autoflower - Acidic Monsoon rain caused my soil PH To drop below 5 this week!

So He was saying, “What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it? It is like a tiny seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; carefully monitored it’s run-off PH, and it grew and became a tree, and that tree bloomed, and we all partook of the tree and saw great wisdom in it’s smoke"

Had to do my grandma’s trick of spitting on the seed cover to make it fall off.
Here it is right after I removed the seed cover. As of now the yellowing is already starting to clear up:

Seeds planted 6 days ago

This was a batch of 3. The other two siblings are doing great.

Skill Level: Noob

Journey: Last Winter I received 5 clones which grew for about a week and flowered almost immediately because I didn’t have lights. l. I harvested them and they were great, although I was lucky to get an oz from each plant. Friends recommend autoflowers, and specifically the bruce banner auto

I planted the 3 above because I was had heard friends talk about the Bruce Banner Auto’s ability to thrive in 100+ weather here. This was my first time with seeds, so I killed a few figuring it out, but it seems as long as I keep the medium cooled and watered, and the plant has at least 6 leaves. I can leave it outside in direct sunlight is no problem up until about 108 degrees, in which case I just move them against the wall for shade until the temp drops back down.

These 2 survived the testing phase and are growing outside right now:

EXPERIMENT 1: 4 Weeks from planting Problem (Not enough Light first week)
This one didn’t have enough light and grew a long and thin stem and then it just fell over. After I I buried up to the neck and hoped for the best, and it looks good now!

EXPERIMENT 2 : 3 Weeks from Planting, Problem (Heat damaged main cola)
Abused this one badly. It’s at about 3 weeks. I overcorrected on the light issue and intense heat burned the top cola right off so now it looks like it’s been topped.

My Grow Goals:

  • Keep it Outside: Only germinating plants are allowed in my house. All plants that are not germinating are either outside in the open or in my outdoor tent. (Not my rule but challenge accepted)
  • Keep it on schedule: plant one per month and keep notes so I can learn how to take care of them best during each part of the year. Mostly because it’s just cool to live in a place where you can grow weed outside every single month of the year and It seems like a fun theory to prove.
  • Keep it simple: Use a single well known strain, minimize artificial lighting, use only vinegar water to balance PH and fertilize only with Grow Big (Veg) and Tiger Bloom for (Flower), using recommended schedule and amount.

Based on my personality, what works best for me is a grow that’s simple, clean, reliable, repeatable, and disposable, like Jiffy Pop Popcorn. That is the holy grail I seek.

I just mentioned in another thread a small piece of wisdom that I had learned, buy a bag of ice about 11, maybe 12. Put a little on the top of each one of your dirt piles, takes a long while to melt and keeps the plants cool.

Thanks for the tip about the ice! I heard you mention it last year, and I tried the ice thing the first couple of days. To be honest, but if I water thoroughly in the morning most times the evap keep the soil surprisingly cool. Yesterday when the picture was taken it was about 85f about an inch deep into the soil.

Humidity usually doesn’t go above 30% here I think that keeps the evaporation constant. I have had luck not so much with ice, but with burying 3 water bottles upside down in the soil with pinpricks in the lids to create artificial dripping. Like if I’m going to be out of town for a day. That works surprisingly well.

I also had a really hard time getting mature buds to develop in the dead heat of summer

Skinny, did you use autos? I heard that something about those russian desert genetics really helps them deal with the heat. Either way I will post results good or bad! Love this website!

So Dante from Marijuana Seed Connect told me that ruderalis have desert genetics and can take more heat than photoperiod. Do you think that sounds right?

I was recommended this just the other day.
