Well said brother!!!.. @beths he is :100: right in my eyes… They’re still making a new home in the 5 gal pots still… But watch it’ll be like magic when they have a growth spurt

I think it will depend on your nutrients. In my head, based on nothing scientific or otherwise, liquid nutrients will leave less salt buildup in your medium. I ā€˜ā€™think’’ that dry nutrients will leave more salts that would need to be flushed eventually… hence the need to water to run-off for dry nutrients… Does that makes sense @devjyarn, @tdubwilly or anyone who would know…

This is what I love here and how we all learn… I’m now going to do some reading on both liquid and dry lol… I’m thinking it’s dependent on which brand we use maybe… I’m still studying how each different nutrient helps the plant meaning nitrogen calmag or potash or the additives that have sulfur and all that fun stuff… It’s not just soil water and light like we were taught as kids in school lol… I never water till runoff at all unless I’m flushing that’s the only time I’ll see water runoff

The salt build up is just what is left behind after the water evaporates. Ever left a glass of drinking water to evaporate down to nothing? Even that will leave a thin salt residue behind on the glass. The more dissolved stuff in the water, the more residue can be left behind. It’s the total PPM or dissolved solids in the solution; doesn’t matter if you dissolved it yourself or bought it already mixed in a bottle.

Yes and because of it you need to change your soil… living soil depletes also but we can amend it…

@devjyarn so correct me if I’m wrong but this is the exact reason why we flush with pure ph water to get rid of the excess build up from the residue???

The problem happens when things dry out. If the roots never dry back completely, and you water to runoff every now and then, your plants should stay healthy.

That’s awesome bro… Every Sunday I do nothing but pure(filtered and conditioned pH to 6.5 water) to runoff… Other wise 1 gallon of heavy feed divided between 4 plants daily in 3 gal pots but never runoff I think it’s just enough a day so they can soak it up… But never dry

This is all really good advice. I love our little community. I am so glad I decided on GN as my forum home. You guys are all the best.

Keep smokin people.

@PreyBird1 where are you? Hope all is okay!

I never know how to find people’s grow journals. I only have @oldguy saved.

Feel free to post journal links so I can read and catch up!

Looks like your learning a lot quickly. Nice way to learn is to just do it like you are. You just have to jump in with both feet.

Wet nutrients are just dry nutrients in a suspension fluid.

What @devjyarn said is correct

That’s why I never made the switch to fertilizers like Jack’s. My general hydroponics line treats me just fine.

So, am I right to think that mixed dry nutrients will precipitate faster than factory made liquid nutrients?

That’s the reason behind my thinking by the way… nothing scientific.
But I see your point @devjyarn and @tdubwilly!
Sorry if I bug you guys, but I just love to learn new things…

And thank you all, by the way, for your constructive answers! :v:

I guess it just depends on what all the suspension liquid consist of in the factory made nutrients in comparison with how fast water evaporates after the dry nutrients are added.

I was hanging out here anyways brother so no need to be sorry
