Beths First Grow Journal

I probably have a stupid question but if I am growing my grape ape outside how do I judge when it comes out of veg and into bloom? Inside you switch to 12/12 but how do you know when the bloom cycle starts outside?

Same thing, when the night are getting longer, your ladies are going to get ready to flower and once nights hit 12 hours or more, they start producing buds… afaik! :nerd_face:

Outdoor you really have no control over lighting it’s :100: natural… Indoor we have more control… I hate the word flip lol… I usually regress lighting slowly as mother nature does indoor… As far as knowing when it’s in flower stage you will start to slowly see white ā€œpistilsā€ growing outward from ā€œbud sitesā€

Only way to manipulate outdoors is to go light deprivation. But you have to have a greenhouse and use a blackout fabric. That way you can get multiple harvests in 1 season as opposed to only one. I wish it was leagal here im dying to try it.

Can’t you do that inside

@beths yes this is how indoor is we are constantly manipulating the environment that’s what indoor is all about when using photoperiod seeds… auto are different with flowering… But when growing outdoor the only way to control the light and dark period is with shades or blackout shades when you want to enduece flowering earlier to get multiple crops in a season like @PreyBird1 mentioned

What is the preferred method? I was gonna do 4 plants in (the autos) and 2 plants outside. Don’t wanna overload my ass for the first one. Should I do them all inside? I keep going back and forth.

I look at how far I have to carry water if outdoor.
At 10 lbs / gal it adds up quick. And they drink a lot in flower too. :wink:
All about easier :joy::v:
I’ve done both. For me indoor all the way for quality. Lack of bugs. No rain for days.
But I’ve still grown some killer face melt outdoor too. :v:
Like Scotty said. You’ve got to find that right balance for your grow. :wink::+1:

Start slow at first I was scared at too when I first started… But straight up that happy frog will get you started well… It’s definitely pre-charged and even has mychorraize in it… Itll get you nice healthy seedlings

Personally, I would try the autos outside and the photos inside. Because, the way I see it, the autos will do their thing regardless of the lights. So if you have to bring them inside to finish, it should be less of a shock…
Mind you, if you have enough time to finish them all outside, that’s what I’d do… bigger harvest by far… :wink:

Great advise @scotty17 try some cheaper seeds first as you progress do more. Germination and seedlings are 1st. I tried to practice each aspect of growing 1st. I tried seeds in water, in dirt, in paper towels. Then i practiced media. Coco, soil, tupur, pro mix. Then i practiced transplanting, then i practiced cloning. In soil, coco, aeroponic cloner and float table cloning like kratkeys non circulating hydroponic. Now im going into tissue culture cloning and breeding.

Edit: hey @beths i recommend you get this book. Ed rosenthall is the man.

Very very helpful and explains so much more of each subject.
