Chavez's Organic Grow Journal

My entire grow has been between 80 - 90°…this time. :joy: Not proud of that but it has been working. It is yet another lesson learned for me. I now know what the high end of the temperature spectrum can really look like. I am not saying hey look what I got a way with but as long as you can keep the humidity up or the #'s somewhat in check you can really have some room to work with.

I agree Bob. I think Cal Mag is overused also. I always use minimum dose and haven’t had any problems yet. Whenever I have something like this happening I look at new growth if it still looks like it’s having a problem I stop feeding and go straight water. In a few days it will either be better or it will be worse if it’s better overfed if it’s not better it’s hungry. Or check your numbers. :man_shrugging:
I learned on my last gro that is not a good idea to mess around with your nutrients once you’re flowering. Sure messed up my last grow…

As a supplement to my above comments, I just want to add…if you have a GOOD pH meter and a GOOD ppm meter you are GOOD to GO!

EC and ppm are closely related. there are multiple conversion chart’s available on the web:
Ec : ppm and ppm:EC.

You can also search recommended EC levels for all stages of cannabis growth and even different planting mediums…search ‘optimal EC for cannabis’ and you will find abundant information.

I’m not going to get into the ‘tall grass’ here but there’s a reason chemists use EC. It’s NOT a big deal for our intended purposes of checking our pH and nutrient levels being fed, and pH/ppm in drainage water!

Another note here: I share @chavez78 frustration with his grow and as a BBP customer I am going to be working with him VERY closely in his next grow …every step of the way! I always take it to heart when a grower has issues with or without the BBP component…But assure you he will be back and HE WILL be kicking ass!

Have a close look. What do these leaves say?

New growth is dark green. Before I do anything, check this out.

On my way to pick up an AC! BBL! :v:.

@chavez78 The encouraging thing that you stated is your new growth is nice and green!

I guess the first question I would ask is if you are using R/O or distilled water in your grows!?
I’m taking a shot here but will give you my best guess…
There’s definitely a nutrient problem there and I believe it may well be related to a pH issue.
I’ve been preaching it here already, but that relationship between pH and nutrient levels(ppm/pH) is SO critical that is MOST OFTEN the issue!
I was going to address it in our ongoing PM’s ,but it’s very important to have a quality pH and ppm/EC meter!! Blueline meters have a very good reputation. Once you have a quality meter in hand it will be VERY easy for me to teach you the simple method of diagnosing your fertilizer program in total!

Said it before, but DON’T trust your grow to a $7 meter…it’s probably going to cost you $100s !
Haven’t asked yet, but if you are trying to grow with municipal water or well sourced water you are fighting a multi-front war!

I have a $80 meter…close enough I hope. Going to calibrate it soon.

I use water from a natural spring. Ph is almost always 6-6.5 and pmm at 50-60. I brought more water home today, so I’ll check what it’s at.

When growing organic properly, you shouldn’t have to ph unless its under 6 or over 7.

That’s what I read, anyway.

AC installed, getting cooler! Now I have to check my runoff. :v:.

Run off.

3500ppm

6.3 ph.

Excellent, we hadn’t talked about meters!
You are correct about living or organic soils like Earth Dust keeping pH’s well maintained… I think the operative word there is SHOULDN’T ! By utilizing a once a week check of pH/EC in vs pH/EC out you can confirm your assumptions and avoid issues!
Here’s a test to see how suitable your spring water may or may not be in your grow…Go ahead and mix your typical nutrients in a jar and adjus to you suitable pH. Now set it aside for 3-4 days and come back and check the pH. DID it remain stable, or do we have a oh shit moment??

I think you should do two jars. One with your Springwater and one with some RO or distilled. If you do it side-by-side it will definitely show you what’s up if anything. :v:t3:

OUCH !
pH looks totally fine… 6.3-6.5 is a universal sweet spot in soil/hybrid media…
3500 ppm? for sure???
BINGO … that represents an EC of about 7.0 ,
Hard to believe anything could live in a 7.0 EC. But that does demonstrate how out of range pH or EC can provide visual ques exactly the opposite of what we observe!

I’m going to let @happilyretired give you a flush/recovery protocol that should be very beneficial and save your grow!

I don’t think you really want to flush growing or in organics. I have successfully been through a grow in soil with numbers that high and higher. Not being a strictly organic grower I can’t say for certain but if it was mine I would just water with straight water to runoff, not a lot just a little for the next couple of waterings and then proceed as normal. You can’t fix the damage that’s done especially this Far into flower. I would leave the ugly leaves on the plant until they start drying up and then pluck. There’s still enough Life left in them to do a little work for you while some of the smaller stuff catches up. That’s probably what I do not saying it’s right but that’s what I would do.

Also if you’re using water from a natural source you might want to check the pH on it when you get it each time. You never know what’s going on upstream even if it’s coming out of the ground. It should stay consistent every time.

Wait till yu get to be over 70…lol.

Do you make your own organic mix or do you purchase the amendments? The spring water sounds perfect.

Damn … 70 sounds so far far far away! LMAO

My experience is yu will always have an “oh shit” moment after you leave nutes sit for a couple of days, but why would he be using nutes in a organic grow?

I buy them. I just purchased earth dust for my next grow, I’ve been using nature’s living soil but I’m disappointed in my last 2 grows.

Oh shit moment huh… Everyday bruh… EVERYDAY!

Anyone who has used NLS needs to add calmag towards the end of the grow, sometimes sooner.

Aha ! That crap ruined one of my grows, still have a bag of that junk. It like your PPM is showing burned the crap out of my plants. I flushed and flushed to keep them alive till harvest, I got it done, but will never use that stuff again. Not to mention zero customer service. They even sent me auto mix when I ordered the photo mix, when I got it I emailed them and they told me I ordered wrong, when i sent them a screen shot of the order showing I ordered right they never answered me.
