New to the network. What is the best, or what do you do, for drying and curing?
welcome…if you can afford it the Cannatrol is great for drying and curing… I have one and it is something I really enjoy having…
Welcome to the forum. I cut the plant down, remove the fan leaves and hang the plant in the tent and try to keep the temperature and humidity around 60 to 65 %. I use a wood moisture meter to check the moisture level, when i get a reading of around 12% I do a dry trim. After trimming I cure the bud in a C-Vault with a 62% humidity pack. My next harvest I plan on trying out Grove Bags instead of the C-Vaults. Here is a video on using a wood moisture meter, the wood moisture meter use starts at 2:49. Cannatrol is a great option if you can afford it. I have also seen growers use a wine chiller for curing. EDIT: I forgot to add I burp the C-Vaults 2 times a day for about 2 weeks.
If u dont have the fancy cannatrol i find it when my neter reads 12 to 13% rh in buds i jar them and vlose jars and open them one to 2 times per day to keep the dry cure slow and long as possible. The longer u can keep it at around a 62 to 64 percent on a meter in jars the vetter it tends to come out at the end. Too dry and u lose lots of flavor and smells. Too wet and u r looking at getting mold so jave to watch them every 4 to 6 hrs open jars scope out neter readings if too high leave buds set out for a while then back to jar and clise again. Try ur best not to let it dry too much too fast or u will be total depressed at the outcome. Good luck dry and cure is a whole lot harder to grasp than growing the pla t start to fonish. Lol.
Great help! New to growing as well - had a couple harvests now. Still figuring all aspects out and seems I can do everything perfect and the dry/cure can mess up all the other work.
Great advice - new to home growing (have a couple harvests under my belt). I have learned that the dry/cure is the most important and, sometimes, the most over looked step in the whole process.
Sure is. A slow dry and a nice month plus cure always makes for a good end product. I do jars but if u jave alot at once u can use buckets
hey @plantdaddy
Welcome to GN. Great advice and methods of curing/drying cannabis. I use Boveda packs in the jars to help with the moisture

morning plantdaddy… like others have said you grow this amazing plant and then ruin the harvest because you can’t control the environment… cannatrol takes care of that so that your harvest really shines… it is a big investment but just like a good light it makes a difference…
I agree 1000% i have one also. I want a second one now. I use it a lot and it makes it so easy and takes all the work out of the final steps of drying and curing and it stores the flower. Thats a cool feature to be able to get a bud out of the machine. I just pulled a fat Bud out to smoke tonight. And because i didnt have time to finish triming the buds off the stems and jarring them up last week there just hanging out in the machine until Saturday so i have time off to get to them. Its nice not worrting about the buds anymore. Its a very expensive machine but once you own one and use it… .you understand why its so great! And you see the value in it and its One of the best things i ever bought! I wish they made a bigger model! Like a refrigerator size. I need more room because when i harvest i need to time it where i can dry for 6 days before i can cut more plants and since i grow so many plants i need a bigger machine or 2 of them.
you know you are living the high life when you get one of these…walk up and get some fresh bud and I like to stuff cones and put them back in util I am ready to smoke em…the bags are my current harvest and the plate is what’s left of my last harvest…
All of this is great stuff - thank you - everyone. Im checking out the Cannatrol site and thinking it is right way to go.
Man thats an idea take the shelves out. On another forum guys are cutting the buds. And sticking the stems into the shelf holes and standing the buds upright like when they were growing originally. You can fit a bunch on there. I really can say this canatrol machine is super awesome … in fact im gonna go get a Big Bud right now. Although the one thing that sucks is gravity! And buds laying on a shelf can get a flat spot and if you dont go in a roll/flip the buds to even out gravitys hard work and make them flat on all sides evenly. then there flat buds on one side. But on another note if you drop a bud thats flat on one side it really doesnt roll far!
I tried to tell the difference between a flat sided bud and one that was not flat sided… they both smoked and looked the same when they came out the grinder … I could not tell the difference…
Lol good point. But i do like your idea of keeping pre-rolls in the machine a god tip there thanks. @retiredoldguy
Yessss your gonna love this machine. I think it will compliment and or complete your equipment needs. I really really want a second one! Its a game changer. And it is expensive up front but totally worth it!
I’ll be reading every bit!
with the cannatrol you will complete your high roller experience… really showcases what you grow…and it may even make you dance and sing when you step up to it…
Roggy Roggy have you any weed
yes sir yes sir 3 bags full
1 for my brain
and 1 for my body
and 1 for when I am feeling a little bit naughty
It does complete my whole set up. What really pushed the decision on the Cannatrol was that my gal and I have a little homestay/BNB situation that has a good amount of seasonal traffic. We were having to block 1/3 of every month because the area was the same area that I used for drying. Economically, it made more sense to get it. I wasn’t having any problem drying and getting really high-quality bud, it’s just a matter of practicality.
I let @PreyBird1 PreyBird be the test pilot! I followed what he was saying on his, and, quite frankly, his endorsement is what pushed us over the line.
