Extreme training......Yes or No and the benefits

It was just that 1 Maui Wowie plant in my 1st set of pics that gave me 238 grams. I got 484 off the 3 plants on the 2nd set of pics @sssportsmfg.

Yeah I am seriously thinking about adding some more Red and far red when I flower. I am running the Spider Farmer 4000 board. And two Durolux 4’ 320w LED full spectrum for side lighting…but I’m thinking I need to turn those off as they are 5500k. They seem to be loving it, and even the buds that are literally laying on the Durolux lights are covered in resin. This is the first time I have used these on a grow.

WOW 17oz off three plants…now we’re talking! My last grow with Blue dream and six plants I got 12 oz.

Ok drug them out, unless I do another pump setup with an inline pump instead of a submersible, I will have to plug all these recirculation fittings. Question for you I have 4 buckets with the mesh pot lids, I need to get some tubing and some air stones. I have a Bluestone 360 Gph air pump is that enough for 4 3.5 gal tubs? I have a dual 4 line header on it. I thought these were 5 gal. but when i drug them out from the corner of the basement I see they are only 3.5gal. Any input much appreciated.

It’s my best run so far and has taken a little over 18 months dialing in everything about my grow. My first 3 harvests was 210 grams, 180 grams , then 225 grams. Those were summer 2019, and then fall winter 2019. It’s taken so much hard work and dedication to get to a great harvest like my last one.
Weekly resevoir changes on top of flushing my rootzone. The daily monitoring of my ph, ec h20 temps. Temps and rh are on auto so don’t do much there.
Mixing up nutes every few days for my topoff reservoir. Not to mention the time it takes to train my plants. I put 6 hours into getting my plants carefully tied down.
So I feel I earned every gram of this last harvest.
I love growing, it takes me to my happy place!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Any input into GPH on the air? I’m not going to do the recirculating I’m just going to go with DWC single pots, and flush each week, with only 4 that shouldn’t be too much work.

I’m actually going to use 3 gallon buckets on my 2nd plants. They’ll be fine. That’s plenty of air for your rootzone.

Thanks a bunch! I just looked it up and the pump I have is exactly what they recommend for 4 5 gal pots, so should be plenty of air. I’m thinking I need to get a backup pump cause if one fails it would be dead plants by the time you could get a new one. So off to the store lol.

Another question (I know I’m a pain lol) Do you use air stones in each tub or in the reservoir or both?

Ask all the questions you want my friend! I run an airstone in all my buckets @sssportsmfg. Even my reservoirs outside of my tent. It helps to keep the nutes fresh and mixed up. You can never have too much air! But if your co2 is high in your room, and your introducing that to your rootzone through your pump. That could be bad. You could notice your ph dropping as your rootzone becomes more acidic.
Don’t ever hesitate to ask an questions about dwc. I’ve came across just about every issue that needed correcting.

Fantastic! Exactly what I needed to know, perfect explanation! I don’t add Co2 so my room is just normal house air and since my grow is in an old coal room it is low ceiling and super insulated so my fan almost constantly runs and brings in fresh air with a normal mix of O and Co2. And as you know I use AN nutes so I shouldn’t have any problems with the PH. I plan on draining and refreshing the water every week, and keeping it topped off during the week, so hopefully I won’t have any problems with algae etc.

I’ve had great luck with using top-off reservoirs on RDWC. I’ll mix up a batch of full strength nutes for the RDWC system, then a lower strength batch (I start around 1/4 strength and adjust from there) for the top-off reservoir.

I use a gravity feed, keeping the reservoir higher than the RDWC system, and run a line from the bottom of the reservoir into the RDWC system using a float valve. 1/4 push to connect fittings work great for Reverse Osmosis systems are great for plumbing this.

I would definitely recommend checking and adjusting your pH every day. I compare keeping your pH consistent to keeping your light cycle consistent. Pretty important stuff. To that end, I’ve run my top of reservoir at a lower pH than the RDWC system, and when they mix the pH of the system is automatically lowered.

Do you think going from the volume you have to 3 gal will affect the size of your buds and plants? I decided to get new buckets and use my mesh pot lids I just have too many holes in the old ones, and still don’t have drains or water level tubes up the sides. So I am on the fence as to getting 3.5 or 5 gallon buckets, the 3.5 are shorter so more room for plant, but not good if they get root bound or is that a factor in DWC? Anyone know where to get the farm kit? Growershouse is out of stock.

I would get 5 gallon.
You will only have about 2 1/2 gallons for roots and liquid in a 5.
I built my buckets. Got the buckets at home depot

I decided that the size bucket isn’t going to effect my plant or flower size @sssportsmfg. My rootmasses have been fairly small lately. Not even taking half the 5 gallon bucket. I think it’ll be just fine.
But I would go with the bigger size if you had the choice.

@Tygrow78 I have a plant drinking a gallon a day in a bucket is the only reason I would go with 5.
Shes a monster though

Yea I totally agree. When I’m in Veg with my plants their only in 3 gallon buckets. I have to top feed them every day. It’s a pain so I totally agree with you.

@sssportsmfg I bought a carlton non metallic liquid tight pvc fitting from home depot to build my sight glass

@Hydro did you get everything from HD? The tubing, the L barb, and the buckets? I didn’t think that HD had all black buckets, I know they have the grommets and the L barbs and the tubing I may not even have to get the grommets as I can take them out of the old buckets. Or is this carlton liquid tight fitting the whole thing?
