One more test run of the freeze dryer before hash next week.
Doing a test , freeze drying scallop potatoes on one tray, shredded chicken hydrated in chicken stock on two trays, and two trays of orange slices, one of them with cannabis sugar sprinkled all over them.

Two packets of freeze dried hash are double bagged, vacuum sealed, then were put into the freezer, going to get a few more before pressing.

I see your probe hanging down there, which controller version do you have from AC? I have a Ai on the way now, ordered in Dec. I also got the largest AC humidifier. And also wanted to say been using your salve it definitely helps! Thanks so much! That is some kinda setup you got there for the bubble hash. Is the red and white deal on the counter what you’re calling the washing machine? I have buckets and bags and a new plastic ended paint stirrer, have just never done it yet. So many questions, so little time lol.

Does freeze drying bubble hash remove the moisture? I just read that some people are freeze drying flower to cure also.
This is the washing machine
The red and the white buckets on the floor are where I keep the wash bags/sieving bags. There are three buckets cut off in reducing sizes With a different micron size bag attached to each one of those, so when I suspend the bags, they’re not touching each other. Underneath them, I have a 6 1/2 gallon buckets to receive the flow through water. I then rinse and that water is then all poured through a 25 µm bag, the two buckets with the purple line at the top you see to the right
It does remove the moisture! It also preserves the terpene profile.
I’ve only done one tray so far with the new freeze dryer, so I have absolutely zero “deep wisdom and knowledge“ to impart.(realistically, even if I did 100 trays I don’t know if I would have any of that to impart!)
Immediately after freeze drying, it was packaged as if it was going to be pressed. Then those packets were inserted into a vacuum seal bag,sealed, and put into the freezer waiting for a press day
I wish I had known about freeze drying when I was doing bubble hash. I lost a lot of it to mold trying to get the moisture out.
Will a food dehydrator work? I still haven’t done my first batch yet.

I’m not sure but I found this video on a good way to remove moisture.
I looked in the food dehydrators. They raised the temperature a lot to dehydrate, which results in terpene and cannabinoid loss.
Yeah I wondered about that, what I was thinking was to just use it till you get to around 20% moisture and then pull it out, then pop in in with some 62 rh humidity packs to finish. A lot of the goodies might already be gone by then. Don’t know never made hash yet.
