Hey fullas. I’m using a small led for flowerings and am just wondering if i can hang my 600 hps in the tent and hang the led above the hps. The tent is 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0
I onow the hps shade will block a little of the hps but will it be better then rubbing an under powered led by itself? Thanks in advance.

But a 600W hps is plenty enough for a 4x4 tent?

Yip but i just want to add a little more wattage until i can afford to replacr the bulb. Its about four years old now hahahahahaha.

I vegged under the hps and then switched to the led for flowering, at the time i was aware the led was more powerful then it actually is. Flowering has been slow and the plants took some time to adjust to the light change. So rather switching the led out for the hps and risk them having to adapt to new lighting again, I’m thinking of hanging them both like this.
Heat isn’t an issue either.

Try side hanging the led. Do you have a picture of the led and what manufacturer it is?

I wish i knew what model/make them 5watt leds are and to what the efficiency they still hold.
Try using the Photon App
Get a DLI reading of just this light.

Yes you could do that. I’m wondering if it’ll benefit enough to cover for the extra power it pulls and I don’t think so tbh. Probably better to invest in a 640W LED and swap it all out.

Make do with what you got if money is an issue.
MrMonkey is saying for that extra power your also throwing money down the drain in Efficiency for that extra bit, properly not worth it in the long run. But…

I hear you fullas… i don’t have any income to invest in new equipment at least untill the harvest of outdoors… i can afford the small amount of power the led adds to the bill each month though. It’s more for peace of mind knowing the hps bulb I’m running has seen better days.

do a DLI reading and measure how far in cms from the light to get that reading.

You can do the reading using the free version, i wouldnt worry bro. Have you used that led that long?

I’ve had it running for about two weeks now. Really wasn’t happy with how it was going but i only can compare to 600 hps and im sure it’s not worth the comparison hahahaha. I went and done the dli test to. This is about a foot away
And this is about 18 inches or so

Its lost a bit of efficiency 5watts leds at 18inch at 55DLI thats close but will make do.

Nope i was given it. I can get a Mars Hydro Mars Pro II Epistar 320 1600w for 350 dollars off a mate how ever.
