Hi everyone! I’m Greg from Utopia Gardens in Detroit Michigan. We are a commercial cultivator operating under our current patient-caregiver model. We cultivate approximately 18 strains currently with more in the pipeline. We also produce BHO shatter and are just starting to produce distillate. I’ve been growing on this scale for about 1 1/2 years but grew as a hobby for many years back in the early 90’s. In my spare time I love snowboarding and wakeboarding, although gravity seems stronger the older I get!

I’m interested in all technological advancements in indoor horticulture including lighting and environmental automation.

Do you have insurance that can be used for an established courier service that is insured for prescriptions but not cannabis? It’s a large 200+ employee company

Hi everyone! I am super excited to be part of Growers Network!

A bit about myself, I am rocket scientist turned entrepreneur. I recently started a Cannabis tech company building a platform to optimize the way all cannabusinesses, from growers to dispensaries and everything in between, interact and conduct business with one another and consumers. We are currently in build mode and will soon be opening up the platform to a group of select beta testers in the state of California.

There are a lot of perks to coming on and beta testing the platform for us. If you are interested in trying out a new technology to find/purchase/sell products while gaining incredible insights into your customer base so that you can market yourself to them more efficiently, please reach out!

Excited to connect with some of you in the coming days and weeks!

Hi all,

My name is Stephen Jensen and I own a recreational cannabis farm in NE WA state called Mountain High Organics. We are part of the state’s 3 year old experiment in legal, rec marijuana. We grow primarily in light dep greenhouses with a bit of indoor to fill in the long winter months.

In addition, I’m president of Green Barn Farms (www.green-barn.com) which is a cooperative of cannabis farmers growing to an organic, sustainable / sungrown standard. It is modeled after traditional agricultural co-ops.

Welcome @josh1 and @stephenj!

Josh - looking forward to seeing your platform and definitely let us know when the beta is open.

Stephen - what was the process like for setting up a cooperative? We’ve had other members of the community who are interested in doing one in their area. Any advice you have for them?

Hi! My name is Jared. I’m currently employed as a Lead Grower at Chalice Farms in Portland, Oregon. I have worked here for a year now and love the challenges the position brings. I went to college at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah and received my B.S. in Botany along with a Chemistry minor. Immediately after graduation, I moved to California to immerse myself in their cannabis culture as well as the production side of the California nursery industry. Finding that the cannabis culture in California was not as friendly and supportive to a new grower as one would hope for, I returned to Utah to work in two production nurseries to gain the skills necessary to manage a large facility of indoor and outdoor plants of all sizes. In these positions I was also in charge of managing a crew of up to 10 individuals. I moved to Oregon upon their recreational cannabis program being voted in. I’m simply here to network and share information with like-minded individuals. Feel free to say hi!

Hello everyone, my name is Rachel England! Pleased to meet you.

A bit about me:

I have a Masters degree in Environmental Sciences, during my time as a candidate I specialized in Integrated Pest Management. I began my journey with pest management working as a Field Entomologist, which has provided me a strong background in pest identification, rearing and control.

My journey into cannabis began when I was hired by Tweed (Canopy Growth Corp) to be their Integrated Pest Management Specialist. My time at Tweed was both enlightening and extremely valuable. I was tasked with creating an Integrated Pest Management program for the company. I spent a great deal of time, trial and error in order to determine what were the makings of a great IPM program in an unprecedented crop. Through this work I went on to train others to manage this plan and be very involved in laboratory testing and creating the Standard Operating Procedures to ensure a successful future at Tweed.

Now, I am a consultant with Koppert Biological Systems, where I will maintain an active role in this industry.

I look forward to some enlightened discussions with everyone and am very happy to have a platform to get to know other industry professionals!

Rachel

Hey Daan,

We are in Fort Collins and Garden City, Colorado. We made a full switch over to Gavita early last year (if memory serves) and haven’t looked back. If you are ever in our neck of the woods, I’m sure that we could organize a tour.

@rachelengland welcome to Growers Network! I definitely want to hear more about your IPM background. Perhaps you could start a topic about the program you set up at Tweed?
