FIGHTING FOR REFORM | ATHAR HASEEBULLAH

The removal of cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act is a proposed legal and administrative change in cannabis law at the federal level that can be undertaken by Congress, The Executive Branch or The United States Attorney General and has been proposed repeatedly since 1972. Schedule I is the most tightly restricted category reserved for drugs that have "no currently accepted medical use”. The scheduling of cannabis is also an issue that needs to be addressed at the state level and often conflicts with cannabis legalization laws, allowing for cannabis possession arrests to continue to occur even in those states where it has been legalized. On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel speaks wtih the Executive Director of the NV ACLU, Athar Haseebullah. Athar is graduate of Howard University and Howard University School of Law. He spent several years as a litigator for both Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and the City of New York.

iHEART JANE | SOCRATES ROSENFELD

On this episode of Let’s Be Blunt, Montel speaks with the Co-Founder and CEO of Jane Technologies Inc. After leaving active duty in 2011 as a U.S. Army veteran and Apache helicopter commander, he turned to cannabis to re-acclimate to civilian life. Because cannabis wasn’t legal at the time where he lived, he was forced to rely on the black market, where he couldn’t be sure about the quality of the cannabis he was buying. The frustration of that experience, coupled with the lack of access to cannabis for his fellow veterans, led him to co-found Jane Technologies with his brother. Iheartjane.com launched in 2017 to provide an e-commerce solution for legal cannabis retailers. Jane’s unique offering provides dispensaries and brands with a turnkey e-commerce solution, including real-time POS integration, curated content directly from the brands (the best pictures, descriptions, etc.), and retail and market analytics. Prior to starting Jane, Socrates was an associate at McKinsey & Company. He graduated from the United States Military Academy and earned an MBA in entrepreneurship from MIT.
