Light schedule got interrupted - turn to hermi?

How long can the light for 8/1/25 germinated seedlings be off schedule before the plants turn into hermis?

My breaker tripped last night and I didn’t realize it until this morning. The plants are photo/ fem.

Hey @ArtVandalay

Should not be a problem at all over such a short period.

Thanks. I’m hoping that’s the case.

Plants can turn into a hermi for a number of reasons, stress, lighting, and even genetics.

Id get that figured out quick. Maybe too much load One nights fine repeated nights thats an issue.

Id check to see how many things are on that breakers ciruit. You might have to much and its tripping. Everytime i had that issue was too much load on one circuit.

If any of my plants have just 10% of my stress, every single one from now one is going to be hermi.

Very true, we dont realise how much load these fans and lights put on the DB boards. Not to long ago I had to get a sparky in to put an entirely new DB switch in, the one plug had melted into the wall socket.

Ive got them sockets pretty hot and scorched them before!. I actually just added 2 new circuits to my grow room to carry the loads more safely. and a 240v for my welder in the garage.

I plane on replacing the ceiling panel at some point. If you notice i did celing mount socketsm these are specifically here for grow equipment and tents.

Unfortunately, the breaker box in my house is very old. So much so that the 20 amp breaker I replaced a year or so ago; (the culprit in this issue), does not fully seat onto the bus bar. I used the same model and brand breaker as the original, but they don’t make it exactly the same design now. Si the breaker will trip even if you look at it the wrong way. There are less than 12 amps supported by that 20 amp breaker. The entire breaker box needs to be replaced/upgraded, but I can’t afford it.

On a different note, I noticed that the leaves on one of the three plants have begun slightly curling up. It’s probably because I had lowered the light to about 18” above the plants. I’ve raised it a good bit now. It’s a 700 watt 8-bar light.

Thanks. I’m still learning about these plants. Any time there’s an anomaly like the light situation, I wonder if that’s going to throw a wrench into the grow. Do a lot of you guys build your own lights? @PreyBird1 sent me some very detailed instructions on his light builds. I think it would be fun and interesting to do that. The light I’m using now is a 700 watt FloraFlex I found about 6 months ago for around $375. Most said that was a very good deal.

I noticed this crispy tip on the Runtz seedling this afternoon. It’s odd because the rest of the plant and the other two seedlings are healthy and chugging along. What could cause 1/2 of one leaf to turn crispy?

Hard to say looks like old nutrient burn. Look at the other side same leaves opposite side.

Looks old enough i wouldnt worry. Keep an eye on the new growth if theres issues there then you have a problem. So let it grow. Pluck the leaves off if it bothers you.

short answer NO - but if not corrected the plant will flower if lights went out for a long time (2 weeks +)

Thanks! I read somewhere the other day that it’s not recommended to grow sativa and indica plants at the same time in the same tent. Does it really matter that much, especially when only two or three plants are being grown?

Ive never heard that. Thats silly. I have both growing right now and including hybrids of both together in the same tents. And i have both in flower together in the same tent.

I grow up 20 strains together at a time. There plants and if you have the right environment for the strains being grown then whey the hell would it matter?

I don’t recall exactly where I saw it, but the article said it had something to do with the different lengths of time each growth stage lasted for each type. So switching the light schedule for one might be too early or too late for the other.

Also, where can I get a few of those extremely fine screens for pounding the flower through to sift? Maybe I’m not using the proper search terms. But what I found on Amazon was over $100 for a set of three screens. Would an old bed sheet work just as well? I was going to just stretch it cover a large bowl, over that with some plastic wrap, and pound it with a couple of spoons or sticks. A few videos I saw showed Afghanis and Moroccans doing it that way.

The term is called microns.

If you want cheap here ya go 120 micron 304 stainless steel mesh screen.

I use this in my pollen boxes i made for harvesting male pollen. If your interested in seeing it in use first.

Thanks @PreyBird1 ! I know about micron measurement units but didn’t know the proper terms to use to search for the equipment! I couldn’t believe that three 24”×24” sifting screens were $130 on Amazon. They must he coated in gold amd hand woven.

I don’t have a bin like you said, so I’ll have to construct one. So do you just lay some flower on it and gentle rub it around on the screen? Or do you cover it with plastic wrap or wax paper and channel your inner John Bonham and air-drum play BlackDog on it?! :drum:

Thats the ticket @nacho151
