That’s awesome. I’ve had one plant do that last year, and I wondered (afterwards) how much benefit (if any) there would have been for the plant if I had piled up a little bit of soil up around those roots.
All your plants look so lush and amazing!

Thank you so much @OlyBoy
You have read my mind - I am mixing up some new media to add to the 10 gallon - I would really love to transplant her into a bigger pot with fresh soil on the bottom but that’s not practical at this time so I will be filling in more up the stem with some fresh top dress - I think they will like it - they are still about 3 weeks before the natural flip here in Connecticut
Is that when your daylight hours dips below 14:30 hrs? What is your “natural flip”
I was really hoping that was what you meant.
That’s the same website I use to track daylight hours. After I made that post, I looked up sunrise/sunset in Hartford, counted ahead three weeks and saw that the dates coincided with the 14:30 mark.
We will hit the 14:30 mark on 08/09. Here’s a few pics from last year’s outdoors grow.
My plants were showing their week 1 buttons on 08/27. Right about 2.5 weeks after natural flip.
@1sttimegrower Are you tracking? You and I are at 47° and ravenchief is at ~41°. But both of our data lines up based upon 14:30 hrs of daylight. (all plants are different. each strain is different. phenos are gonna pheno. but this might be a good rule of thumb.)
Looks great!
Thank you so much @sdoyle and @OlyBoy Last summer I only had 2 photos growing and the Gold Leaf finished third week of September and Girl Scout Cookies Extreme finished the second week of Oct.
This year I have lots of different photo strains so it should be interesting and I am hopping for a natural cadence and rhythm to their harvests so I can stay sane
I’m buttoning down the hatches preparing for Elsa supposedly coming our way tonight and tomorrow it’s the Highwinds with my plants being so top-heavy that concerns me. I can’t put them anyplace better so I secured some logs around them and hopefully that will prevent them from toppling over. The joys and tribulations of an outside grow I wouldn’t have it any other way
You’ve seen what I’m going to be dealing with.
A bit of stagger at harvest is nice.
yes - you have my admiration and condolences - I am hoping for a good stagger - but I will take whatever comes my way and be happy
I did Gold Leaf last year. Best plants Ive ever had. I had 2 plants that reached 8 and a half feet tall and produced over 2 pounds. I
m doing a lot of purples this year. The Black, Sirius Black, GDP and Dark Devil Auto.
WOW
I have to agree so far - but this summer’s grow is going much better than any previous grow so I may have a new favorite when harvest time comes
Same. I really hope staggered harvests works out.
You better bet I’m tracking!! I’m just trying to breathe in all this knowledge!!
On today’s rainy and windy stormy day I am happy that I have my tent running as well as my outdoor run.
Downstairs in my I have 2 photos that just started week 3 in flower
they have been given 4 applications of Budbusterpro from @TheMadFlascher and responding beautifully - Outdoors is All organic but here I am using Autopots, Hydroponic Research’s #review-testing-lab:veg-bloom-nutrients veggplusBloom #dynomyco #Vanqled 720GLMX lights
here’s a little video
We have @THCinkc Rainbow Kush
Lovin in her eyes Candy Chem OG
I have them on a 11/13 light schedule and their budsets are perfect… Thank you for looking -
Looks great!
Have you tried putting any of your outdoor plants directly into the ground? There is unlimited root space. And that always almost means bigger plants no matter what. If you haven’t yet I would highly recommend trying one and testing it out to see the results. My growing partner has plants that are almost 10’ now and we couldn’t touch each other’s fingertips if we tried reaching around these so called cannabis plants. They are more like trees literally.
Looks like you are killing it keep up the nice growing!
Thank you so much @sdoyle and @970cannetics
I want to do that in the worst way -
We live in a very wooded wetlands area with only a few places with decent sun coverage for cannabis - and protected from deer and other critters…
But a couple of years ago I helped my wife build a garden in the only really good spot for her veggies -
I am working up the courage to ask her for some space in one of her rows but I don’t think she will want to do it yet
I see that’s a good problem to have tho! May you aquire the courage to ask! Ha I agree with your plan on moving up to 15’s as your smallest. I finished one in a 7 gallon fabric pot last year and even moving up to a 10 would have had better results. 15 gallons are about the perfect size for keeping the pots small but still giving the plants enough root room. Always keep adapting. That garden area is very nice. Pesky deer always eating our gardens up. Chicken wire is my friend for that exact reason.
But I want to live
I have NOTathing to complain about - she is a really good egg and puts up with me and all my passions - I really like my 15 gallon - its a rain science bag which helped with all the rain we had this past week.
