New Lights, Setting up a small Hydroponic System for this next grow

I just looked at my electric bill and it only has gone up $12 a month since I started this grow, but then again it hasn’t got cold as hell yet. I’m really liking this setup and the lights seem a lot more intense than the ones I’ve used in the past.

Just scrolled and gone through your entire journal again. So much to see and learn. Love all the information. Great growing @nacho151 , really something to be proud of, nicely done. Very valuable info for new hydro growers below from your post above.

Lessons learned so far from this grow.

  1. Use side lighting within 2 weeks or sooner in this setup, (Set the side light intensity a little higher that the overhead light).
  2. Use plant benders at an early time on the branches in this setup.
  3. Use Cal-mag full strength from the start in this setup.
  4. Pay attention to what the plant is trying to tell you.
  5. If you are a heavy tobacco user, wash your hands with anti bacterial soap before you touch your plants, and rewash your hands before touching any other plants. (Prevents TMV).
  6. Probably test your setup by growing a tomato plant in it before using a cannabis plant.

Looks like they r starting the yellow sun bleach look. Lol. If it seems to stay the same or get worse prolly dial back the light a hair. I get this a lot when I put them under the scorp diablo already seems they r alot lighter in color and I e only had them under that light 2 days at 18/6

Day 81. Reduced ppfd down from 945 to 855 because no vertical space to raise light left. Lights are at 21 inches above canopy now.

This weeks project is to develop a UVB light mount to use next to my Full Spectrum side lights. I’m working on a couple of ideas at the moment.

I got sick of not being able to not use the entire tent space. So in an effor to do this i made 2 slits at the top of the tent and then outside the tent up on the ceiling i screwed in 2x eye hooks to the floor joists then run the light supports throught the slits then i can pull the light up another 8" it works so im going to do it again. This hydro run. I didnt make any clones this time. So im waiting on these new seedlings to get some clones going for my hydro set up. Nice rolling pots man thats a great idea anyways easy to move them. Thats always my issue once there held up with supports you cant move the plant so this is ideal. The only issue i see is the tent has a raised part where you have to tif the plant roller over it or use a flat piece of wood under the wheels if you wanted to roll the whole plant set up out of tent. That would be super nice for cleaning and trimming the whole thing up. Are you going to try and put 4x of those in a 4x4 tent? Im thinking 4 hydro buckets might be to much for one tent due to the fast growth of hydro. Im gonna do a lot more topping this time and earlier on.

They work great so far. I’m sticking to 1 plant per tent, as over the years I have found that my yields for 1 plant is just as much as a tent stuffed with 4 plants and the quality seems to be better from what I have experienced so far. My old grow room was 2 times bigger than this one is and since I stopped doing the care taker thing I really don’t need to grow large amounts anymore. I tested my contraption with 220 pounds of weight on each side separately without a problem of tipping, the way the wheels are set on the plant caddie itself help prevent tipping. I just wanted to be able to pull the plant close to the door and be able to inspect and work on the whole plant without having to go into the tent itself. The only thing that keeps it from doing a 360 are the air lines, I can rotate it around 190 degrees each direction to work on it. I just use a battery powered transfer pump to drain and fill the built in reservoir. If I had to remove it even with a plant in it, I can drain it and easily lift it out of the tent by myself, but I don’t plan on testing that out until harvest.

@nacho151 Ouch. That sucks brother. How many screws do you have in you?

I have 14 screws, 5 cages, 5 plates and 5 replacement disc’s in my neck. I currently have 1 plate an 2 screws in my right wrist, they had to remove 2 plates, 5 screws, 3 pins from that wrist. At the time the Military Surgeons wanted to amputate my right arm just below the elbow and give me a bionic arm and hand, they told me I would never be able to use it again. 2 years later I was the anonymous subject of an article in the New England Journal of Medicine on patient rights and input of patients in successful patient outcomes from debilitating injuries to wrist and arms.
