First day of hunting season n all I got were these “shots” of some of my Apple trees and thimble berry patch. Pretty wet out there lol. I would have snapped pics of the raspberry patch farther back but I was focused on whether that noise was a bear or a bird lol
Man that is an OLD apple tree! Still bearing, looks like good apples too!
Buds look yummy too!! I figured they would be a lot farther along than mine way up there, is it frosting at night yet?

We’ve had 2 light frosts, but I’m lakeside so it didn’t hit as hard. My step dad bought this property in the 60s, to my knowledge those trees were old then lol. Got bout 7 to 10 apple trees in that spot and bout half a dozen scattered throughout the property. One of the bigger thimble berry patches in the county too. The dirt here is excellent, and so close to the world’s largest natural freshwater pool, the natural filtration is great and the constant flow of the creek keeps most everything alive. Love it here.
Site B…then I scrolled down…thought I might see some gray guy with big huge bug eyes lol. But no just some almost ready green girls from the planet earth !!
Not long now, look great!

Lol well here’s hoping the high is “outta this world”. Hopefully in a couple weeks I can start harvesting, I hate pushing into the frost months. Sometimes they take longer, n I gotta decide if risking frost damage and mold/rot issues is worth it. I think I took my plants a little too early last year, so I’m TRYING to be patient. Gotta laugh at the couple charlie browns I got. Thinking bout hanging a red Christmas bulb on one n snapping a pic just before harvest. Think I could win a “smallest but still producing” contest?.. kinda sounds like a “small penis” contest, n who wants to win that? I apologize for the analogy, but it’s spot on lol.
Quick inquiry: how can I tell my buds are at peak potency, and how long is that window? I know the white stigmas or hairs should all have turned red/brown and the crystals or trichromes should turn from clear to milky. It’s still hard for me to tell. Usually I just wait for the temps to dip into frost zone, but most of my plants haven’t grown the way they have most years. A few are “on track” and there are other factors (I recently took 2 on separate days because they were beginning to die and turn brown… bud rot, etc.) But bout 2/3 of my crop looks ready for harvest… and this is almost a full month ahead of schedule according to every other year I’ve grown. I’ve learned my lesson, no more free clones.
So, my question again is this: how do I definitively tell my plants are at their peak and how long is that window of opportunity? Pictures would help.
At least an eye loop to check trichombs, if all milky they say that is peak, but it is personal preference as how far past you want to go.
Took a few today. Weird season. Weird plants too. Here’s a couple still in the ground for a couple weeks though.
Yes it has been here at 42.8 North in New York at 1150 feet
still got at ton of bud thank G_d, with little bud rot
all the best and grow well

@kuntrybudz024 yooper?
You betcha. Da U. P., eh? Couldn’t help it lol. Ontonagon county, if you’d like to look up the area. Biggest county by area, not by population though.
So I been using the bowl trimmer I bought, n I like it. It could be better, could use a second layer with a finer screen, but it’s saved oodles of time.
It came with 2 of the 4 layer dry racks, connectable. I put paper on bottom of each to collect the lil stuff, trim above that, and the other 2 layers with buds. Today I took a Cindy 99… my fave. Started from seed, besides the overall size and yield, the roots were noticably bigger… at least 10 to 20 times more roots. I love seed born plants lol.
real good smoke the Island Sweet Skunk x Holy Goddess I have out has a lot of those
genetics in it
in mine you smell the pink grapefruit
I am a big fan of some of that older work Apollo 11 etc. I loved growing Joey Weed’s work
Moon Shadow I believe is Chemo x C99
I have some UBC Chemo seeds I should break out next season and make some beans
so much great work, now if they let plant a couple hundred plants a year I can maybe
grow 1/3 of the beans in my freezer this life time
all the best and be safe
