Here is an article using homemade pesticides. I really hope this works for you!

Stylet oil will annihilate them. And it’s safe to use and it’s not real expensive, bonus.

He is in Mexico in a remote area and he would probably have to travel a good distance to get it if he could find it.

If you’re in a hurry, and you can’t get anything quickly, you can use about a half a teaspoon of dawn dish soap with 2 tablespoons or 1 ounce of vegetable/canola oil to a gallon of water.Take your plants outside if you can hose them off light pressure best you can. Give a shake to dry off a bit. Then spray them with the mixture top to bottom both sides of the leaves, soaking them.

If you can’t rinse them off outside, just soak them with the mixture and get fans going on them until they’re dry. Repeat in three or four days.

Will MTA as per the recipe in this forum kill spider mites?

It should work. Just mix it up and spray the whole plant down. it may take a few applications to get them all. I hate pests. Let us know how it turns out. Wash your buds after harvest!

I hosed them down liberally with the MTA and took another look with the microscope. Infestation seems pretty light. Could only get a couple in viewing range of the microscope at one time. Mostly all dead but saw one barely moving. Will check again in the morning and send pics if any are worth looking at. I have read that the typical hatch period is 3 days so I will be repeating. After harvest I’m going to do a thorough grow room cleaning and finish off with Hypochlorous Acid. I’ve also got a couple of Pyrethrum TR Total Release Foggers if I’m in the mood to go nuclear. I’ve heard so many horror stories about mites that I don’t think there is such a thing as overkill.

I always do since for veg I do in and out on a cart and outside always adds a bunch of debris. I remember the first time I washed my buds and was shocked at the amount of crap floating in the rinse water.

It is good hearing about the MTA working, I forgot I posted that. I have luckily been able to avoid pests (Knock on wood)! I got that recipe from a very experienced grower.

How bad was the infestation. Sometimes you just need to stay ahead of the infestation. If you can mitigate or slow them down you can harvest before they web the buds. And you can bud wash the buds also. I have had mites and had to spray constantly just make sure your on it. Got any pic of your affected leaves? I can tell how serious it is by looking at the leaves. Question? Are the mites under the leaves? Or are they on top of the leaves? Or both? If you divided the plant into 3rds. How far up the plant are the mites now? I really need to see it to be able to see how bad it is. I know the severity of them b seeing. Biggest thing thing is to thin the numbers quickly you need to look at the healthy looking leaves also because it takes a couple day for the mite bites to show up on the leaves and generally the mites are now already higher up on the plant mites are sneaky and procreate every 3 days. *its important to spray every 3 days. A lot of people forget this. Its the mites egg laying cycle is 3 days. 3 days you have to spray ok 3 days.

Checked several leaves with the microscope today and nothing moving after the application of the MTA. Will check every 3 days and reapply if necessary. The mites were all on the underside of the leaves. I was only able to get a couple in the view range of the microscope at a time. Here’s a pic of one of the worst leaves. I noticed the salted look

Here’s a pic of the Monkey Slapz bud. She is the most effected by the mites. Starting week 7 of flower.

Fuck there pretty advanced. That tells me theres many generations of mites there. Remove all those leaves asap. Theres more mites and eggs on those leaves. Any speckled leaves are screwed remove asap. Also once the plant is harvested the mite will try and go to the tops of the plants. Make sure they are hung from stems so the flowers are at the bottom and if any mites survive they will go up. And collect at the top of the plants stems and whatever is holding the stem. Mites egg cycle is every 3 days and if the conditions are perfect for mites breeding they go crazy!

I use these to hold my flowers. See if you can find something like this. I know your in a remote location. But i thought id show ya what i use. I have 8 of these in different sizes. There amazing!

Thanks for all the great info. I have a rack I can use to hang them upside down at harvest. I will follow your advice and keep and eye on them daily.

And the recommended stylet oil or horticulture oil its the same thing. Its just food grade mineral oil. It works well like @happilyretired said. I use it also.

I’ve heard that acronym many times over the years. What does MTA stand for?

Mite/Thrip/Aphid Killer. I posted a thread about it back in June 2023.

No, he hasn’t logged on since the 12th of January and his YouTube Channel has been removed, and his BBP website isn’t up anymore. I miss his help growing.
