Ultrasonic Tincture/Extractions For the Self-Medicater

I won’t say no, that’s for sure.

If I ever kick my extraction game(and bank account) up a notch, terp extracted cannabis oil does sound very intriguing. It’s just a bit out of my league, right now.

Running 5 oz of THC trim through, about ½ oz at a time, 9 minutes per cycle.

Here’s some solution that’s been run through the ultrasonic 3x.

After that, it starts warming up too much and needs to be swapped out for ice cold ethanol. I had 2 batches of ice cold ethanol ready, to switch back and forth as needed.

If I let it get too warm, the Green Dragon rears its head. Tbh, I have nothing against the Green Dragon. It still does the job, it just doesn’t taste/look as good.

With all the Vape bruhaha, decided now would be a good time to attempt a high quality, home-made, garden-to-lungs vape cartridge. All organic. No pesticides. Grown and extracted with as much tlc as I can muster. And all for me me me! :grinning:

I froze 7 grams of broken-up bud(6 grams of 6-month cured Green Crack and 1 gram of calyxes removed from a few different strains…plus a few stem strings with the calyxes) and just under 1 cup of 190 ethanol.

I put the bud into the ultrasonic tub, then poured the ice cold ethanol over it, gave a quick stir, then turned it on for a 9 Minute Cycle (1 & 2)

I did not stir it or remove the lid. I attempted to after 1 minute, but the unit was doing such a tremendous job, I had to put the lid back on to avoid having tincture splashed everywhere. After the cycle was over, I strained it through a coffee filter placed in a seive. (3 & 4). I then froze the solution for 18 hours.

Today, I filtered it once using a slow filter in the Buchner filter. Very little anything showed up on the filter, so I did not do my usual triple-filtering. I forgot to take a pic of it before I poured it into the crucible, so I had to take what I could get (5).:grinning:

The Source has another 170 minutes of work to do, then I’ll post an update.

After 180 minutes total Source time, it was done. I let it sit out on a silicone mat for 12ish hours, then scraped it into a ball. It was kind of shatter-y when scraping from the mat, but it was also slightly fruit roll-up-y, too. Sorry for using all these highly technical terms. :joy:

Top: just after being poured from The Source
Bottom: after 12 hours of drying & just before scraping

Final product: 1.25 grams of pure happiness

Mmmmm tasty looking

It smokes like dab. Has a great aroma and flavor.

Think 1.25 grams is a good return on 7 grams of starting material?

Not bad for a prime run at all ,there was probably a bit a b grade product left but probably not worth the hassle;) i usually get about 17% off any prime runs w chilled alcohol

But i use about twice as much alcohol to get that last little bit i think its wasteful as i dont have a seal on my air still and its too hot so i dont use it unless for rso

I didn’t even bother saving such a piddly amount for a second wash. :joy: I am happy with a ¼oz of bud turning into 1.25 grams of this stuff.

I never use bud in qwet, just trim, so I wasn’t sure what to expect for a return. I know with trim, I’ll get about 1.5-2 grams of oil per oz of trim. I use bud in budder/cannacoco oil, bud for some reason I’ve never found the value in processing buds in a qwet. That has changed. :grinning:

When it was done, there was such seemingly small amount of plant matter, maybe 2 tbsp, in the strainer. I actually did think about processing it again, but decided it wasn’t worth it.
