Alright everyone I don’t think I need to elaborate on my question any more.
I personally like the Advanced nutrients PH perfect. I just mix it let it sit for a few minutes and use it I don’t bother with checking PH. Knock on wood no issues yet.
Good question. I have not had access to commercial nutrients in the last decade, but I have used Biobizz, GHS powdered nutrients, A & B and one that I use often is Talborne Organics ( South African ) and a couple dutch nutrients. Talborne is a slow release fertilizer that helps regenerate soils and works perfectly for my needs outdoors.
@chrisj Is A and B canna?
I second Advanced Nutrients. The PH perfect is hard to ignore the value of. I am going to run RDWC this next grow for the first time, and am staying with Advance for that reason alone. I purchased some Millinium nutes and I may do a flush and one water cycle with the Ruby and the Winter frost from that line and adjust the PH myself on that run of water for one week. Once you have something that you know and trust it’s hard to change not knowing the outcome. I think nowadays most of them are pretty good at worst, and some are better. AN was one of the very first weed specific nute companies, and are not cheap, but are not the most expensive either.
Haven’t used them yet but I do have AN for my next grow.
A lot of companies use a A&B the primary reason is that they make em that way to keep certain nutrients separated from each other because of compatibility issues between the different nutes in concentration .
The Connoisseur line of Advanced uses a A&B in the grow portion and a A&B in the flowering portion too. So for one grow it is 4 bottles. I have the Canna brand nutes also buy haven’t tried them yet.
Mantis Buffered Nutrients because it’s one bottle for my entire grow of mixed cannabis and every plant reacts the same, it’s amazing. I use it on my friends when they have issues they can’t figure out, Mantis sets any cannabis plant back on track without any PH work at all, just 5 ml to 1000 mls tap water and your good to go.
@bigsali you keep posting that and honestly I am interested…but there is no way a 1L bottle at 5ml per quart of water will last an entire grow cycle with 6 plants. It would take twice that much. I use twice that amount of AN nutes at only 4ml per quart which is full strength and that is too strong this next grow I am backing off by 25% on the AN. And it takes two L of nutes to get me through the 3.5 to 4 month grow cycle. Plus it is a hundred dollars a bottle without shipping, and they are in Canada.
I want to try the Mantis nutrients as well. But I can’t justify the $94 CAN plus shipping. And I live in Canada lol.
I understand now, but when I first started growing, it was always a sack of bottles, then when I stopped wild growing, and now I had most of those same nutrient bottles in a large box in my room, a wheelbarrows worth of bottles. How do you know when you’ve chosen the right nutrients , the right calibration of water, PH up, PH down and get this, you have to test your calibrated pens, test your run off, and this is after amendments to soil and then there’s top feed and bottom water and that’s enough.
Now it’s just one black bottle of Mantis Buffered Nutrients, 5mls to a 1000 mls of 24 hour old water, every 4 /5 days, but sometimes every 3 days about 1 litre of feeding or on another plant I give one snippy cup per day, which is working well for me.
Now I do have my grow dialled in as far as humidity, temperature and VPD with C02 bags, but each plant is different and are in various media and containers sizes, yet each plant is humming.
Mantis is performing better in water alone so you can’t do water and coco in the same canopy, but that’s why some think water is ghetto because it’s faster.
I believe I’m getting at least 8 girls through a bottle with some for my mom who gets visits anyone helping her says it’s easy and enjoy helping her with growing.
I think Mantis will probably have a production of Mantis Buffered Nutrients in the states soon to save issue problems with the border and you can order it in the states at a grow store, I’m sure I have the name somewhere, I will post it.
Hello I do not mean to intrude, but I really like the way that mantis product looks but is it only designed for soilless mediums? I also second you hipp that price is $99 usd, but if the stuff is that good I’d be willing to try it.
Just a heads up that MANTIS will be available in the US in the near future on the indoorgrowing.com site
Hey Happy,
Mike form MANTIS here… We actually have a promo code for first time trial rates. Use code FIRSTTIME1 on the final page before checkout on our website to save yourself 40%
We alway pay shipping.
Sorry but this is only in Canada.
After you have given it a grow and if you would like to order more… Use code 4ORMORE1 to keep you at that great rate if you order 4 or more at a time
MANTIS works in any substrate. You do want to be careful in anything precharged as the pH buffer that is built into it allows the plant access to what ever the roots have access to.
Sorry I did not mean to jump into this but I thought I would share a great discount for you all and let you know that I am here if you ever have any questions about how it works.
Appreciate your time for explaining and the discounts, keep me posted for the U.S. drop.
Well thanks for the promo code. I’ll definitely look into it
I started out using Fox Farms in soil, like many noobs do all those years ago. I switched to AN (old formula Sensi lin pH’d to 6.1 for coco( and LOVED it. haven’t gotten the same results since they switched to pH perfect. Currently looking for either a solution to the problems i have or a new line. But i do this with great hesitation: when people try other fantastic weed, they always tell me, yeah it’s good, but it’s not yours… so I really don’t want to give up on AN yet.
that mantis sounds interesting, @mantismike… I’ll be looking into the as it becomes available here in the states.
If I took a picture of all my bottles you would get a giant belly laugh …cause I prolly got a hundred of them. I always see greener grass on the other side…buy a whole set of new nutes…then stick with my tried and trusted. I have a complete set of Fox farms, Canna, TPS, and three different lines of AN lol. SOMEDAY I’ll actually get around to trying them…if they don’t go bad first.
