What is the problem ? Am I doing something wrong? Advice or direction

Hi all,
I am seeking advice/direction. First time trying, start to finish in grow tent. Let me start with equipment 4x4 Ac Infinity Tent, AC Cloudray S9, Cloudline T6, Spider Farmer SF4000 LM301H EVO LED. Controller 69 Pro. Growing in Fox Farm Happy Frog.
Seedlings Growers Choice THC Bomb AF and Ripped Bubba AF.
They sprouted quickly and looked promising. They got leggy and are now three weeks old still have cotyledon leaves and have barely progressed. Do I trash them and start over? Is my set up inadequate? Any advice would be appreciated.

Wow, just wow. Thanks for the help.

There are no photos. And 9 hours isn’t always enough time for folks to respond. Whenever I’ve had leggy at that age, I just plant them deeper. Good luck!

hi @rattletrap

Welcome to GN. How they doing today, pictures will make it easier, but I think give it more time. They should continue growing.

Pictures are definitely needed. Like @1sttimegrower said, bury them a little and bring the light closer.

Sorry for being impatient on response

What do you do for watering (how much and how often)?

Watering Can (Plastic). About a pint every few days. Too early for nutrients. So just water. I’m on a well. No city water contaminants.

This small, it can only be the watering or the light. I usually just give them a few squirts of water a couple times a day with a squirt bottle. Maybe the light is too strong for them.

I would start by letting them dry out, then water very little on the outside edge of the pots. At this stage they are very sensitive

Per Spider farmer, I have the light settings on the low side for seedlings about 50%. I have lowered the height of the light. It was about 24-28 in. above plants. Now it’s about 18-20. or do you think I should I raise it back up to 24" and turn light to 75%? I never figured they could be so persnickety.

Might just be the watering. The plant is stretching, so I wouldn`t raise it.

Like @Dforce said. A pint of water is a lot for a seedling.

Have you ever used a photo app before to ensure your light is producing the right amount PPFD for the seedling stage (between 100 to 300 μmol/m²/s)?

I use Photone, it works great! Use the free version!

I use 250 ML of water at this stage with around half poured around the base of the seedling and the rest poured around the outside of the pot (or a few inches away from the seedling) to promote root growth.

Use the Photone app to be sure to eliminate light as a variable and then you can verify and fix your watering!

Additionally, have you been able to check the PH of your water? Be sure you have it in that right zone of 6.1 - 6.5 (or between 6 and 7 if your less exact).

Very good info.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Also, my bad, I should have clarified, the pint was not for each, split between the two seedlings. So a half pint per seedling. I will see how things go. The more seasoned cultivators may be able to assess and provide additional advice to make this a successful grow. Thanks again, I will keep you posted.

For the size of the seedlings and the pot they are in, that is still a lot of water.

I can reduce it. I will scratch around on the surface. Maybe I’m deceived, it looks pretty dry after a few days. These things are 3 weeks old.

I’m guessing the top maybe dry, but down low may still be wet. Maybe take another pot with soil thats dry and go by weight. When watering maybe water less and more often if needed.

Sounds good. I will give it a shot. Much appreciated everyone. I want these to succeed.
I guess I was very fortunate with previous grow. That was primarily outside until weather got chillier. They were more than well established, in the flowering stage. Then, it was just maintain them in the tent. That was a good harvest. I am learning start to finish in a tent is a different game .
