Yes they are in complete darkness in my grow room.

It wouldnāt hurt to pre wet the cups. Just not too much.
If the soil lets water out when you squeeze it in your hand itās too wet. If it is then just add a bit more dry to it.
Just damp when you plant. 
If you close your ziplocks down some they will keep the moisture longer without drying out on you too. .

@beths have your seeds cracked yet?.. Honestly try no paper plate just fold up the papertowel neatly and put in only ziplock leave some air when you zip it closed and put in warm dark drawer or cupboard and check wetness every 6 hours

Yeah see itās that remembering to check part that dementia makes hard. I am finding that if you have memory issues, the more you can automate, the more āhands offā you can make things the better you are in the long runā¦

But check wetness of the paper towel if dries out too much itāll stun them ā¦ Damp not wet ā¦ Donāt disturb too much either I found 6 hours to be a good numberā¦ Sorry If I sound upfront just want you to succeedā¦ Im not trying to offend you if you already knowā¦ Canāt wait to see a 1/2 tail popping out of those magic beans

Donāt be germ and seedling is hardest part and your doing great so farā¦ once youāre past that off to the racesā¦ Patience girl is vitalā¦ You canāt rush anything thatās allā¦ Patience patience patienceā¦ When you get your tails long enough to plant shit itās another 3 days before they even break soilā¦ Then weeks later the first leaves will growā¦ Itās months and months of waiting and caring for them and loving them

I know my first little baby.
My daughter went to open my grow room door and I almost chopped her head off. I was like. DONT OPEN THAT DAMN DOOR. She was like sorry lol jeez.
