Introduce yourself!

Hi. My name is Michael. A military vet and retired IT Leader, I’ve been growing under ACMPR license for three years, both for myself and under ACMPR grows with up to 800 plants. I’ve been taking courses on Botany and Horticulture and have worked with some of the most talented growers Canada has to offer. I have business development experience and have even spent a little time working on the retail side of the industry. I’ve grown in dirt and in hydro (all indoors) under HPS, MH, and LEDs. I spent a short stint as a Fertigation Specialist for a large Calgary based LP but aspired to much more than producing flower that smells like hay. I’ll be spinning up our third ACMPR-licensed location in the next couple of months and am currently working on our application as a Micro LP; expecting to be operational this fall. I was recently selected to grow for a research project group on the UofC campus and love teaching Grow@Home classes on the side. Always learning and grateful for all my friends in the industry who’ve supported me on this journey.

Being able to improvise and adapt…pretty important in this “gong show” of an industry.

I imagine those abilities comes in handy in many scenarios.

What has been your favorite experience in cannabis thus far?

The best part was working beside growers that shared the passion. It seems to me while there is no shortage of those who try to impress others with their knowledge, Good growers tend to keep to themselves and are not usually very available if you have a technical question; when I was working at the LP, I worked alongside some real experienced folks (some with more than 30 years)…having frank discussions with people who knew their stuff was awesome! I really like teaching newbies, too.

Hello Moritz. It’s good to be connected in this community. I work for SaferGro which manufactures Organic and vegan products that are used in the cannabis industry. It will be good to be able to communicate how you market your products. @alexcannas2019

I work with a few different groups in Washington State and Nor Cal that are all indoor grown top strain genetics. We have groups doing tissue cultures across the globe and also multi time high times cannabis cup flower winners. We only want the best and most rare plants with our Missouri Operation and we will be doing what it takes to cater to the cannaseur types and also give back to the nation and our local communities. I can’t spill too much info at the moment on our strains that we will be having but for myself I’m all about the Og’s and my personal favorite Jack Herer. Very basic but sometimes its best. The rare plants we will be growing will be hard to match in Missouri unless there’s a lot of like minds. My theory is quality over quantity will in the end be quantity while making you the most successful and the best in the business. I’m glad to here more people care about the genetics. Its a dying cause and I fight for the survival every day and preach it to everyone I come across. Thanks

I think there is a lot of validity to this statement. I also believe there exists a place for farmers who grow bulk commodities to process for wholesale or for oil production. Do you think with the burgeoning market for oil/carts that high end flower will continue to command high value? How do you project the flower market to be in MO?

You’re in good company – many of us here love high quality genetics, preserving landrace varietals, and preserving/protecting cannabis IP. What are some of your favorite genetics that you are currently working with?

Our extraction equipment is due to come in early 2020. At the moment we offer post-harvest hemp processing that starts with hang drying, shucking or flowering, and includes milling for biomass. We are also going to broker the biomass for sale for free as part of our services.
