Hey there, @Cybrswype, welcome to our friendly growing forum! How did you come to integrate blockchain into cannabis transactions? I know there is great wariness from many national governments surrounding cryptocurrency (almost as much wariness as cannabis evokes). Have you incurred any federal wrath as a result of your incorporation of blockchain and cryptos in to cannabis transactions?

Great question!

So Cybrswype began as a retail B2C network. We would bridge the gap of consumer spending and cryptocurrencies.
After getting very far in the process, we realized that it is a difficult road in terms of the back end. Compliance, the Fed, and most importantly the consumer variables. At the time we had filed various forms of intellectual property at the US patent and trademark office but they were applicable to B2B transactions too.

So we built a B2B platform off of our retail network and then structured it as a telecom company to avoid the Fed and other regulators.

To put it simply, Cybrswype offers a channel of peer to peer transaction between the buyer and seller, and the actual crypto contracts are user owned. So, that voids money regulators as cybrswype does not handle money or have access to a user’s financial information. The next step was to provide the back end services of an exchange to aid a user who wanted to liquidate or procure commercial amounts of crypto.

We didn’t want that liability so like the growers network, we vet an exclusive group of growing service providers (exchanges + mines) who can facilitate going from cash to crypto and crypto to cash under the Cybrswype umbrella.

With both elements under the Cybrswype umbrella we created the worlds first packaged, and easily integrated system that gives businesses the ability to have accounting support, payment receiving and issuing support, as well as money exchange support. All of which is compliant, where we have not received any wrath!

Hello, @Genotypical! Welcome to GNET! Organic farming is awesome and probiotic farming may very well be the future! How did you find your way into this practice of cultivation?

Hey all! My name is Matt Sauls and I represent GrowSpan Greenhouse Structures, a division of Farmtek. Farmtek has been providing horticultural solutions for nearly 4 decades and we are thrilled to be part of the Growers Network.

A little bit of background on me: I have been involved with plants since a very young age, growing up with a Mom who is a long-time master gardener and landscape designer. I was lucky enough to attend a high school with a large agriculture program which is where I first got involved with greenhouse growing, hydroponics and aquaponics.

After graduating college, I spent 3 years managing a hydroponics store based in Tempe, AZ called Homegrown Hydroponics which allowed me to vastly expand my knowledge of the cannabis industry and gain valuable growing experience. Following my time in retail, I was lucky enough to join the Botanicare team where I used different testing equipment and methods to streamline quality control. After countless tests on nutrient solutions, coco, and plastics, I was brought onto the sales team where I got to travel and meet knowledgeable professionals in the hydroponics and the greater cannabis industry.

A couple years later, I was offered the opportunity to step into commercial cannabis production. I joined the cultivation team at AZ Natural Selections as a Post-Harvest Specialist, tracking and monitoring the drying/curing process of all product at the indoor facility. I later became involved with cultivation R and D and IPM as well. I can’t overstate the value of being immersed in the industry in this way and getting the opportunity to work with so many different strains of cannabis on the commercial scale.

At one point, one of my mentors told me that I needed to decide between growing cannabis myself or helping other be successful. For now I have decided to focus on the latter, which is what drew me to the highly knowledgeable Growspan team. My main focus is to continue to educate myself and draw from my own personal experience in order to help other cultivators be successful so they can best improve quality of life for anyone who benefits from cannabis. As a plant enthusiast, I’m also very excited to see how the rapidly expanding cannabis industry will drive innovation and technological advances in the world of horticulture.

Hey there, @growspan! Welcome to GNET! I am certain we have run into one another at some AZ industry function, but I can’t place a face to the name…anyway, it’s great to have you here on Growers Network!

Did you find it difficult to make the jump from cultivation to the “picks and shovels” side of the industry?

Thanks @Growernick! I think we might have briefly met at Cannacon 2017 Seattle. If not I definitely met some of the team and got one of the GNET stickers.

The shift back to picks and shovels has been a little bit of an adjustment for sure. I do miss working closely with plants but in this role I have the opportunity to visit with and learn from other cultivators and see many different operations which I really enjoy.

Thanks Tony, great to be here. We actually offer in-house financing options for our cannabis clients as well. Glad to see there are other options out there because I know a lot of businesses have struggled to find that kind of support in this industry.

I know how difficult that transition can be. When I left personal cultivation and shifted from being a caregiver to a dispensary agent I found it downright tortuous to interact with plants every day that weren’t my babies! Going from growing to picks and shovels was strangely a bit easier!

Will you be at MJBizCon next month?

I definitely know what you mean @Growernick. I also found when I went from caring for 10-60 plants max to working in an operation with over 10,000 at any given time, it was hard to keep up the enthusiasm. Helping to design and make improvements to many different operations keeps things exciting and reminds me that there are many paths to success.

And yes we will have a booth at MJBizCon! I will be there along with fellow team members Will and Lauren. Very much looking forward to it.
