Maui Wowie Baby Needs Help

Day 37… We added a little supplemental lighting last night. From canopy to overhead (Kind x330) mid 500’s ppfd from sides (Ac Infinity 16" bars full spec) low 300’s ppfd. The cabinet is slowly turning into a little spaceship lol! We’re working on an environmental control motherboard setup with trolmaster x-tent as the main controller.

Can still remove a few of the fans - yet -because of - fans block light – see 2 sets yet. No , i don’t foliage feed very much,but if you do feed - feed - just before ight come on and spray the undersides - this is were it all happens (up-take) – Plant looks great !!Optic Foliage is a good foliage feed , what are you feeding it ? (as you can see there are a few fans that are blocking bud sites from light)

tell you guy’s this - Foop’s Sweetner is he best on market -used it for complete grow and the “sugars” really came thru ==- Best sweetner ever used, So if their foliage product is a good as their sweetner - get it !!!

Ummmm @HawkMan sooo we did a thing… We have a feeling this will go one of two ways… Might of got a little out of hand lol. She’s getting more light now though :grin::+1::bulb::seedling:

We deleted the two lowest branches as well (they were really short and super fat and recieving no light). We were concerned the plant was wasting energy on them. Maybe a good call?

Oh yeah… we also have a 3d printer and laser cutter/engraver if anyone needs anything👍

I know that @CoyoteCody has several 3D printers and makes some nice torture instruments and also
seed pucks for mailing…FWIW

Great job !!! don’t worry the plant will come around in a day or two. Here is when to consider defoliating:
Do and defoliation in week 3-4 - while in veg
When you are going to flip to flower - take all fan leaves off (heavy defoliation) 2 days before flip
At week 4 in flower consider a heavy defoliation removing all leaves that are blocking the light to bud sites
Note: thru out grow you will take a few fans here and there that are blocking light

Check this out _ “Schwazzing” this method is really extreme with defoliation ,
Note: you will come up what works for you, Sativa’s, especially 100% sativa’s don’t need much defoliation if any while Indica’s need to be defoliated - depending on strain and method of growing

Thank you and thanks for the pointers too! She bounced back strong! We’re about to look up Schwazzing right now! Almost feel like the may need a few more trimmed already. After topping at what point do you retop to new colas?

Day 40… Another prune and a little more LST! We’re probably going for another week or 2 on veg or maybe more. Maybe 55 days? Who knows lol.

@HawkMan took a few of the blocking fan leaves and checked out Schwazzing! That technique really peaked some interest too!

word of caution with Schawzzing is strain dependent FYI Looking Good !!!

remember when topping do it when you have at least 3 nodes - Also Ethos dosen’t top till 5th node

Day 43… Had to defoliate yet again lol!

Before defol…

After defol :grin:

Still really debating how long until we flip :thinking:. Overall though she’s doing good. Eatting heavily and is growing leaves at an insane rate!

Day 44… We’re wondering if we should flip to flower in 2 days or if we should hold out another week? She’s about 12 in tall 8 branches 20 something nodes. We’re a little concerned with stretch and our space.

First grow slightly terrified of this next stage :laughing:… Opinions needed and truly appreciated (also would love to hear everyone’s flowering routine :+1::seedling:)! Thank you!

Unless I’m taking clones I top at 12 inches, wait a couple of days for the plant to recover, then flip to flower.

Thank you for the insight! With LST trainig as well? Also do you top everything? As in all these spots? Will that result in some beautiful colas when they stretch? Not trying to come off as overly questioning if we sound that way. Just excited for the next steps and trying to take in as much as possible!

View from to but there’s more spots underneath that we can get light to as well…

Thank you!

I usually just top the main stalk to control vertical height, and tie down other branches to get light into the center. Maui Wowie is a sativa strain that probably will get tall, so you might want to do multiple topping on it. I know others on this forum that do multiple toppings and some serious LST. If you want to do a manifold grow @happilyretired would be the person to walk you through the steps to do that.

@nacho151 Thank you!!

Last prunning and topping before flip!! New light controls came in so we’re able bring the light closer and closely adjust ppfd/dli. Our dli is sitting at 44 so we’re happy with that! Lets see how this goes!

Oh yeah… who does 24 in total darkness at time of flip before 12/12? Opinions/preferences?

@acoupleofleaves She’s gorgeous :heart:.
Don’t be afraid to make a mistake. The first grows seem to strike fear in us all but it is only fear and it fades. You have your shit wired tight and you have the wheel firmly in hand so have confidence in the future because it is definitely bright!

I just found this video on YouTube, you might find interesting.

Great video! I very rarely top and I feel it definitely hurts my total output.
