Day 49 and 3rd day of bloom! We did a heavy defoliating just 4 days ago and almost feel like she needs it again? She’s happy though and stretching like a mofo!!

Getting really bushy so did a medium defoliation… We keep hearing never stress in flower (we’re in day 3 flower)… Is this true? Should we let her go and do her thing until that 4th week mark? @nacho151 @nwnative @sdoyle @TheMadFlascher @PreyBird1 @truthhound @bigj

It would be very beneficial for you to take a look at Chris’s (@wow_arizona) video…

Chris is a VERY consistent grower, a well respected member of GN and a hell of a nice guy !!
You can watch all his videos, and if you have some specific questions afterwards, you can always tag him and I’m sure he’ll respond when he has time !!

@acoupleofleaves She looks like a very happy plant! Well done!

I’ve heard about the “don’t stress them in flower” thing and it makes sense. The experts here can weigh in on the metabolic and growth changes associated with the flowering stage and you can nerd out with these guys for years on just one topic lol. What I’ve learned is that you can love them too much and its ok to give them a break. Plants gonna plant.

Now I’m no professional… :joy::rofl:. I don’t know what the rule of thumb is for defoliating …never got that technical… lol . every strain is different and reacts differently . but In my experiences ( a lot of trial and error ). I’ve never had an issue defoliating during flower with photo plants. Most strains handle it well and no issues. Now … I don’t go crazy. I just selectively clean up the centers to allow light penetration and airflow . I don’t necessarily go by how long it’s been flowering, but more of how she looks after buds start appearing, I pick and choose what to remove to open them up. Now when it comes to autos. That’s a different animal… autos can be very finicky and stress easily, so I only trim here and there( couple leaves at a time ) over a longer period of time to keep the stress to a minimum on autos. So far so good …been working for me . It’s what I do .i keep it simple for less complications … Others here may chime in with more or better info or other methods :+1::+1::v:

Can I ask cuz I’ve never seen it. What r the flat trays on the sides with the hydrogen in them with the layer of water. I don’t see anything in the trays but wet hydroton if that is water that gets circulated into the rez that won’t be good having the light shine on it as that will be a good way to get algae and shit to grow in the rez. Please explain what those r for tho as I cannot seem to figure this out. Lol.

That’s funny you ask. I was thinking of asking the same question… I was just going back through this thread and wondering the same thing. :+1::+1::v:

I tried to look back a little and see but seen nothing so figured I’d ask. Lol. Almost looks like it’s a tray to said the seeds before the paper towel method. Lol.

@TheMadFlascher We’re definitely going to be watching all of his videos (or as many as we can) today! Definitely love what he stands for and has a great energy to him! Thank you for sharing and we look forwards to jumping down this rabbit hole today! Definitely a bird and bake tour would be fun! Oh yeah @TheMadFlascher where can we get some of your foliar spray? Do you have a website we can order from?

Thank you @truthhound! We almost feel torn between keeping her trimmed up (almost like we do to much) and “plants gotta plant” (good one there)! Love it and thanks again!

Okay @bigj ! Thank you! Yeah we might be going a little crazy… It seems like everytime we go in for a prune we end up stripping 20% of her leaves off if not more. But she’s just been blowing up and a day or two after defoliating she seems completely overgrown with little light penitration. So we’re really enjoying this stretch period lol!

@bigj & @Mark0427… Lmao… Totally looks wierd right! Yeah so those are our temp solution to our lack of a humidifier lol. We had one coming but instead of a humidifier we recieved a mushroom de-humidifier lol! It’s all good it was just funny to recieve the exact opposite of what we ordered. So we have a humidifier on the way now and as a perk we now can venture into that branch of horticultural (my lady said “is this a sign” when it showed up lol).

Pretty much to bump the humidity we filled some little trays we had with hyrdocorn, water and HCO (to prevent the nastys lol). Temp solution that definitely has been helping.

I think its looking great. When i defoliate im looking to get air underneath the canopy at the main stem, and light to the top of all the budsites. The goal is to get an even canopy at the top during veg. so pick a leave here and there so light can reach each chute. Before flower just do away with anything you wont be able to get sufficient light to. Perfect time to take clones. Your still below your netting so you got some time before it really becomes an issue. But i think what you’re doing looks perfect!

@nwnative Thank you! We’d honestly would have been fucked for our first grow without everyone’s help and its really set us on the right path! We have the main stem pretty cleared up and we feel all but a few of the sites are getting a ton of light.
