Marty, I think that would be a very good idea!
It would definitely get rid of any inoculum you might have in your room…In fact I would probably do it every other day for maybe 3 apps of H2O2…That should cleand up any spores that might be there…
Keep an eye out for anymore lesions and remove the leaf ASAP…if that should happen I would probably start the H2O2 regimen over…FWIW
H2O2 shouldn’t harm your plants at all…you just want to keep it out of your media (microbe killer!)

Another question, these fungal infections, do they spread through the medium and infiltrate the plants through the rootsystem as well? Because if they do, that would make em a lot harder to treat, no?
And what is a safe H202-dilution @rflasch ? Ratio-wise.

Excellent info Bob - thank you - makes perfect sense and will make future ids much easier

Mr. Monkey,
Fungi and bacteria species are bad actors! There are actually many soil/media born strains that will attack the roots and surface contacting plant tissue…Damping off (Pythium sp.) you’re probably all aware of…your little seedling is 2-3" tall and looks great…then overnight it’s dead and you cans see right at the surface layer there is a brown ring around the stem and 'it’s turned to mush…Friggin fungus gnats are popular vectors of Pythium,
In soil/media the various fungi/bacteria spores are present and often move with water in surface irrigation systems…They usually cause a plant to collapse very quickly because when they enter through the roots they quickly plug the vascular tissue (xylem/phloem) Fusarium, Verticillium, Phytophthora, are all examples of root pathogens. If you have a quickly dying plant you can examine the roots for discoloration and smell a punky odor…
Then there is a whole other group that are airborne, and find entry on any aerial surface of the leaves, stems, or fruit…too numerous to mention but include Septoria, Alternaria, Anthracnose, Botrytis, and pretty much all of the ‘mildews’.
These fungi/bacteria have evolved over the eons and it seems for every temperature range there is a soilborne or airborne species that is viable. The soilborne pathogens seem to be most problematic in poor drainage/waterlogged conditions. Airborne spores are kind of similar to pollen, in that they survive best in higher humidity or dew (surface moisture) conditions!
Hot/Dry conditions make it very difficult for the spores to sporulate…probably why Fungus infections usually run rampant in spring and fall!!
The typical dilution of Hydrogen Peroxide you buy at the drugstore is usually about a 3% dilution, and you can safely use it right out of the bottle.
Mr. Monkey You are very correct!! Soilborne pathogens can only be effectively treated with steam sterilization or chemical fumigation…In fact Fusarium and Verticillium are so virulent, that only by developing resistant varieties are they successfully contained…
BTW, if you look at many hybrid seed packs you will see ‘VFN resistant’ (Verticillium, Fusarium, Nematode)

Hey Bob after I asked the question about the Hydrogen Peroxide spritzing…I went out and started reading and indeed several places recommended using it to combat the fungal infections. So today they will get their first spritz of HP.
I literally can’t grow several of my favorite things here because of the transmission of Fusarian wilt which is carried by the spotted cucumber beetle. Kills the vines before I can get ripe fruit from cantaloupe or watermelon, I do manage to get cucumbers, market more seem to do the best here. Sevin dust seems to do the best at keeping them at bay, but sooner than later they kill the vines. Apparently the beetle infection is very localized as I have others that can grow without problems and they are not that far away from me.
As always thanks for the great answer and info, I was going to ask next what dilution should be used but you already answered that!
Thanks!

Good morning everyone. Time for the second spray of H2O2. Cut off any and all spotted leaves throughout the grow. There were a few on other plants with light brown spots, (no necrosis) but easy to do and just as a precaution. Pretty sure just your normal spots from foliar feeding where the larger drops stayed on the leaft too long and burnt them a little.
Got out my cheap meter the ones with the long probes to measure moisture. Pots were reading wet most of the way down from about 3-4" down to the bottom so I haven’t been watering at all. This coco/ProMix blend is kinda strange, it has a spongy feel and consistency to it. If you push on the top it feels a lot like a piece of foam and springs back. It also holds a LOT more water longer than coco only. Today will be day 6 since watering. Everone seems happy with a lot of preying going on, so I am leaving well enough alone. 10 gal of ProMix/coco holds a lot of water. Plus these fabric bags are pretty thick and the sides don’t dry out at all like the Radicle bags did.
Topped the biggest Candy store, couple more will need topping in the next couple of days. Bruce Banners are finally starting to strech upwards a little more. And still the shortest of the bunch. The smallest Candy store is now the third largest of the six.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day !

hey buddy, i’m thinking those spotted leaves are being cause by slight ph drift locking out calcium and micro minerals. Are you using enzymes in your nute mix? that might help

It’s interesting… The San Joaquin valley in Cali used to produce a tremendous amount of cotton.
Cotton was bred to have the VFN resistance and you never saw Verticillium in the cotton crops,
HOWEVER the crop was a ‘carrier’. Cotton acreage disappeared slowly from the valley and was replaced by Almond orchards !
It was in 2016 (probably 25 years after cotton was removed) I bought some Almond bare root trees.
The nursery evidently was growing their trees in the San Joaquin and hadn’t fumigated their ground before planting…had probably 40% of the trees leaf out with Verticillium!!!
Friggin FUN times!!!

Yes as a matter of fact I am beta testing some enzymes for a company right now. It is touted as a PH stabilizer, but it is a enzyme blend of a about a hundred according to them. And If I need to I have some AN Sensizyme. But no matter I actually think that this was a overabundance of plain ol water. I was giving them 3/4 gal every three days, not realizing that the media was holding that much water and not drying out as quick as pure coco and the difference in the air exchange between the Radicle bags and these fairly thick fabric bags…but all is good no more spots anywhere and everything is standing tall. Thanks for the heads up !

Woo Hoo!! Just went outside and watered my lettuce and radishes in the raised bed garden, yesterday was cold got down below freezing again. Was wandering around looking at my flower/shrub beds and YEAH my Banana trees are sprouting out !! I multched them with about 2 feet of mulch when I chopped them down last fall, but it got really cold this winter for a couple weeks at a time, I was thinking that they might not come up this year again. Between my Banana trees and my Canna flowers my back patio is a small tropical enclave in the summer. So glad they didn’t freeze out !! My Banana trees get around 16 ft tall, and my Canna get around 10 feet.

Good morning everyone! Been rainy yesterday and today, temps pretty much ok outside, at least not below freezing like just a few days ago. Indoors, things are just putting along. Not sure how long this is going to go on, it has been 9 days since I watered and inserting the moisture probe to the hilt which is still about 3" above the bottom of these 10 gal bags it is showing wet, meter pegged to the wet side.
Not sure I like this ProMix HP. But I do have to say that it is not pure ProMix, it is 50/50 mix with Canna coco. The coco had zero pearlite in it, the Pro mix has a lot. So I am guessing that when I mixed the ProMix and coco together it diluted the ability of the ProMix to stay light and expel moisture as there is STILL a lot of pearlite in the mix even diluted by 1/2.
Not that anything is terribly amiss, they just don’t seem to be as robust as I am used to with pure coco and bags with better aeration to them. But this is an 100% organic grow, so it is also not letting me fiddle around any lol. It’s a good possibility that I just have too much time on my hands without needing to do anything? The tops are all still praying so they aren’t short on water.
Anyway a few pics for the journal.
The tent overall.
The praying tops. These two are the Runtz/White Caviar
The Candy store that was sickly on birth has now become the second largest plant in the tent.
The biggest in the tent is the Candy store. (she has been topped 3 days ago so slowed down)
Third largest in the tent is the Runtz/White caviar
And the flat growing Bruce Banner
The smallest is one of the Runtz/White Caviar which is the one that got transplanted late due to the fungus amounst us plant lol. She is SO bushy.
Well now I go back to twiddling my thumbs again lol

Thanks bow ! I’m just not used to sitting around doing nothing! No mixing nutes, no watering for 9 days, so I’ve been spritzing them with Fulvic acid and a every other day with the Foliar science spray.
From the moisture level in the pots it looks like it will be another 5 days before water. I can see why @PreyBird1 uses the ProMix it holds water big time, and why he also uses smaller bags. I am pretty sure that it wasn’t a fungus on the brown leaves, it was too much water in the pots, the two Runtz are still curled up on the tips of the leaves and pretty sure that is from too much water as well. I started out giving them 3/4 gal every third day. It was too much. Never ran out of the bottom.
I need to pay more attention when I change mediums and grow methods.

A update on the outside garden and the starts in the flat in the grow room.
About 4 of my starter cups didn’t come up despite putting 4 seeds in each.
New row of radishes just coming up outside (planted three days ago.)
Took the chicken wire off the radishes and lettuce, it had started growing through the holes.
I hate Robbins they tear everything up, even through the wire. Destructive little pricks.

Hey @nacho151 I went and done it. Come next watering they gonna get some Humic. I did give them a little of the Advanced Nutrients Ancient Earth, but I just noticed that AN waters down their Humic acid to 0.5% and they add Potash. 0.5% ? Never noticed that before.
And getting my fans tomorrow too!!
