Raised up my lights 2 feet just a bit ago. I think they were too close and the reason nothing is growing up faster. Re-potted one of the Goldleaf into a 3 gal radical bag, and re-planted the 4 cups that had garden seed and didn’t come up. This time I used pure ProMix instead of the 50/50 blend.
Have a great day, gonna go fix some dinner and hang.]
Marty,
Glad to hear you’re implementing HA.
FWIW essentially all humates are derived from the same mineral. It is only soluble in very alkali conditions. It is treated with concentrated KOH.
So long story short, all HA sources will have a K contribution.
LOL, good luck with that 2lbs/gal dilution!!!
I tried 1lb/Gal water and it was as thick as chocolate pudding!!!
I’m going 1/2lb/Gal water and just doubled the rate of the resulting concentrate I put in water to irrigate the plants!
You can’t ‘overdo’ humic acid but have found it is cost effective to apply it about every 3 weeks throughout your grow!
ALSO Do not apply humic acid as a foliar! I have research that suggests it impedes photosynthesis!
Fulvic acid foliar YES------Humic acid foliar NO!
Damn BOb I couldn’t for the life of me figure out who you were talking to. I read up the row of posts and still couldn’t figure out who you were talking to. Then I read the label on the humid bag and saw the 2 lbs per gallon, but don’t know why you thought that I was doing that? I put 2 tbls in 5 gallons which barely dented the 1 lb bag of humic. On the content the AN label list the humic acid and the potash as separate and one as non plant nutrient and the other as a nutrient, so I assumed they added potash as they list the humic acid as a non nutrient.
Anyway I’m probably only gonna half to water a couple times more the way this is going lol gonna be like 14 days by the time I water again!
I also use the plastic growing sacks because they hold the moisture better than cloth pots. I also only water/feed 1x a day. I split 2 gallons of water for every 4-5 plants.
Yeah I hear that Prey. I was just so used to the Radicle bags with the holes all around the sides and bottom and the pure coco that dries out a whole lot faster. The ProMix is ground up Sphagnum peat and hold a lot more water a lot longer. I got it totally soaked up and the 10 gal is taking forever to dry out.
I haven’t mastered the moist not wet/dry all the time scenario yet.
Another lesson learned lol. But no harm done, they are doing fine so far.
When i re potted the Gold leaf today from a one gallon plastic pot to the three gallon Radicle, the roots were super white and healthy. It was in the same 50/50 mix, just was getting dry a lot faster with more frequent lesser watering. I gotta tell you that Gold leaf is one healthy strain. Very vigorous.
Thanks Bob, it’s all because of your suggestion on the Earth Dust, so far they are doing well. They are liking that I raised the lights yesterday. They were getting too close about 6" away. They don’t mind at all when they go into flower, but too close for veg.
The meter is finally a little away from being pegged on the wet side. As you push it in the medium is moist from a couple inches down, so I’m thinking the soil is equalizing, sorta like the bottom up watering pots do.
I think that it will be watering time in a couple more days. It is now 10 days since I have watered. But they are getting bigger and the room is getting warmer with the weather warming up. Moisture is the ONLY thing I use the push in meters for. I think they are pretty accurate on that funtion, useless on the light and PH.
The instructions on this Earth Dust is to not water till runoff, so I am kinda feeling like I am flying blind here lol.
Marty,
Honestly, when you believe your media is TOO WET you are much better off to stop watering all together!
Wait for your plants to WILT a little bit!!!
Wilting is NOT a bad thing…overwatering IS. Remember it’s all about OXYGEN to the roots!!
You mention your plants are still growing well and that’s a good sign!!!
A wilted plant will recover very quickly…a waterlogged plant will stop growing and die!!
You have a great opportunity to find your moisture ‘sweet spot’ with that meter…if you hold off on irrigating and wait till you see some wilt you will have a reading on that meter at that point…let’s say theoretically it reads 40…well you know WET is 100 so you can extrapolate and conclude your moisture ‘sweet spot’ would be ideally 70-75…perfect balance of moisture/ aeration!
Just a thought, but I think it would be VERY helpful whenever you utilize a different planting mix…
Just my two cents worth, but seems that little meter could provide some critical guidance in MANY grows!
Oh you are absolutely right Bob, that’s why I haven’t watered for 10 days now. The top leaves are just beginning to go from praying to closer to flat, they are not there yet, but are getting close to needing to be watered enough to keep the medium moist.
That is the instructions on the Earth dust, moist all the time not wet. The moisture keeps the amendments constantly breaking down into nutrients. If it gets too dry it will quit providing nutrients.
Trust me as hard as it has been I am keeping my mitts off the water jug lol.
And when I do water I am going to only give each pot a half gallon. Just enough to bring the whole mass of the medium to a moist level. It is a learning process I am used to the coco wet/dry cycle.
They are doing fine, still praying a little, and growing but slower than the coco/wet/dry high powered nute regimen I am used to.
Forgot to mention earlier, got my AC Infinity fans. Very nice, well built. Very quiet. Only mounted one so far. For anyone that is considering getting them, as they say on their website, the fan can be controlled by both the 67 and 69 controller. HOWEVER…the 67 controller will only accomidate ONE additional fan in conjuntion with the temp/humidity controlled exhaust fan. AND it cannot be controlled separately, whatever the settings are for your exhaust fan the pole fan will only mimic it. So if you have your exhaust fan set to reduce to say speed 1 when temps and humidity are ok, the pole fan will also reduce to speed 1 which is in my opinion not enought for a circulation fan.
So if you want to control EACH fan controlled separate from everything else, you have to buy the 69 controller, it will control 4 Infinity products individually fans/lights. I considered getting the 69 controller, but then when I thought about it, I never change the pole fans except for height, I always ran them on high, and kept everything moving. The A6 pole fan does not need to be run at high speed I think I have mine at 4 of 10 and it is moving a nice bit of air.
Here is a shot of the Optimus fans I have and the AC Infinity A6 mounted just above it. As you can see the brackets are intellegently designed to keep the fan away from the sides of the tent, and be able to point/adjust it anyway you like. The Optimus while a nice fan and quiet, and so far long lived, costs the same and gets in it’s own way when mounted.
I just had my fans delivered about an hour ago. I’m going to install them in the morning. I have both the Controller 67 and 69. I like the Controller 69 a lot better than the Controller 67. I plan on setting them up with the Controller 69 with my exhaust fans so when or if they finally release the bigger Iongrid lights I can easily upgrade my lights.
How many did you get on the pole fans? You can only control a total of 4 things with the 69. 2 lights, 2 fans, or any combination. They should have upgraded it to 6 controllable items. So you could do an exhaust fan three pole fans and a couple of lights. Can’t have everything I guess.
I have 1 light, 1 exhaust fan and 2 A6 fans in 2 tents with Controller 69’s. My other tents I am just running 1 A6 fan and 1 exhaust fan until I upgrade the lights, then I plan to add another A6 fan in each tent.I’m waiting until I scrape up another $120 to order 3 more A6 fans so I will have 2 A6 fans per tent. I was going to Velcro those Controller plates to my non AC Infinity tents but now I’m thinking the Velcro might not stick to the tent to hold them.
@nacho151 do you plan on programming the A6 fans differently than the exhaust fan? My setup is if the heat/humidity is below my settings I programmed the fan to drop to the lowest speed of 1. The big 6" cloudline exhaust fan moves a lot of air, plenty just to keep new air in the tent constantly. When the settings are exceeded it kicks up to 6 max. Never need any more than that. It sucks a LOT of air at 6. If 6 won’t do it, you need to introduce some AC cooled air.
Do you have anything in the other tents? I haven’t seen anything except the one tent or do you have the autoflower in one and the GG#4 in another?
Yes I set the A6 fans a little different than the exhaust fans while I work out other issues. Right now I don’t have anything else growing. I have 2 new tent setup’s I been working to check out the new stuff and working on environment issues, this being Missouri and Mother Nature being Bi-Polor and off her meds isn’t helping. Lol!
