What exactly are you wanting to do to your plant as far as training. Which plants. Could you take a picture of a plant and give a description of what you think you want to do. Usually low stress training is tying down branches are your branches long enough to tie down on the plants that you want to train? Sorry, I have more questions than answers for you at the moment.
@happilyretired
It’s 4" tall so far. I’ve been watching videos on indica institute. It suggests mastering low stress training technics such as bend and secure. Said I should understand that before moving to high stress training such as pinching and topping. I also watched about super cropping and scrog but I feel like that’s a couple years down the road when budget permits.
I tried pinching the ones outside at someone’s advice. They were just starting to go into flower and told me it would be ok. I now think it was too late and could’ve been the reason three out of six of my plants hermied. I’m not sure why they stressed so now I’m trying to understand basic training.
Outdoor grow
I’m starting to wonder if the girls outside are too far gone and if I should cut my losses and harvest. If it would be worth it. I learned a lot so I’m not giving up completely. I guess I’m just feeling discouraged today.

@hoppiefrog You mentioned watching the small leaves at the bud sites.

Indoor grow
5" tall now. Would like advice on when and if I should start Bend and secure LST.

Thanks everyone, see you next time!
Story of my life, discourage! Every grow no matter how it goes up to flower goes to shit in flower lol. I wouldn’t necessarily cut your loses yet. I’ve still gotten good end results in most cases letting them go full term.
It’s hard for us to say when it would be right for you to start training your plant. If it were me I would go at least another week let the plant get at least twice as big as it is. Or you’re in about the right spot to just pinch the top off and wind up with six or eight top. It all just depends on what you want it to look like at the end. I see you all over the place who’s plants do you like the shape of. Who’s style of growing do you like. Ask that person when and how they would start training. Tag them to your journal and ask them questions on your journal. Bring the conversation you want here.
I pretty much always top or fim all of my plants.
Looking back one more time at your pictures I wouldn’t start training or anything till you get a few more nodes. But that’s just me and others would do it differently so I guess I’m no help.
I guess of the ones I’ve seen that have gotten my attention are you, @hoppiefrog, @PreyBird1, @Olcoot, and @wow_arizona but I’m probably forgetting some. I’m pretty sure I’ve only scratched the surface here so far. I’ve really only met and interacted with a few people but as you can see I’m slowly exploring.
So how tall do you want your plants to get from the ground.?
Everything is directly relative to the length of time you want to veg your plant. The more you train the longer you veg. Let me refresh myself on your indoor set up. I’ll go back and look.
Well I did a quick look and didn’t spot your indoor dimensions anywhere. I’m a fertilizer guy though. I don’t understand the organic thing and I don’t want to use soil indoor. So I grow more of a hydro style. And even in soil I look at your outdoor plants and I would tell you to go buy fertilizer and feed them. Instant results. Well not quite instant but can be very quick.
SweetN, when you have a question arise you can use the magnifying glass on the top banner to search your subject…you will be surprised how many times a lot of these topics have been covered. After reading relative posts you can then ask that specific poster to address your particular question…FWIW
The dimensions of the room I’m working in is approximately 10x10 with 7’5" ceiling. I failed to mention it since I only have one plant inside and one light. I’m still working on clearing it out. As far as how tall I want the plant, I don’t know how big of a plant the light can handle. All I really understand is the light I have should grow one healthy plant to harvest. I thought the point of bend and secure training was to spread the plant out for more bud sites and a higher yield. But maybe I don’t understand it. I’d just like some bud for x-mas lol. I’d like to not have to buy if I don’t want to. I dream of owning a little business growing flower and delivering flower and edibles. Lol you got me dreaming, I’d settle for saving some money on medicine.
@TheMadFlascher Thank you, I’m absorbing as much and as fast as I can.
OK here’s what you do go to your light and you find the tag on the back of it that has all the numbers and stuff on it. Take a picture of that and you post it and then we look at it and we figure out what you got. Then we can tell how many square feet you can flower. Then you can grow one large plant or a few small plants to flower out that footprint. Or to go the easy way and find out which auto flower would do the trick for you and just plant it as fast as you can. You have many options. But the best way for you to help us help you is give us a detailed description of everything you have and what you would like to get to get you through this grow.
I did post a pic. One sec lemme find it.
The response I got was less than enthusiastic and didn’t feel very good either because it’s what I got to work with.
What’s GMO.
GMO is the strain of the seed.
Edit ~ The seed came out of some bud I got at the dispensary. Package said GMO T1
I found the info for my light. Yay!
The Viparspectra 600W Reflector grow light is equal to an HPS grow light of 600W. The maximum amount of power that this grow light will draw from your wall is 269W. The Viparspectra 600W Reflector grow light will give you a coverage area of 3 feet x 3 feet in the veg mode. The Viparspectra 600W Reflector grow light will give you a coverage area of 2.5 feet x 2.5 feet in the bloom mode. The input required for the Viparspectra 600W Reflector grow light is AC 100-240V. The dimensions of the Viparspectra 600W Reflector grow light is 15.3” x 12.8” x 3”. The Viparspectra 600W Reflector grow light weighs in at 11.6 lbs.
Also, my mother in law sprung for these babies. Since I’m sure I can handle another plant I’m gonna try one of these. I believe I’m well on my way to some bud for X-mas. I’m excited!
I’d give them a bit more time, also I would increase potassium like 50% more one dose.and more phosphorus.the pink is a sign of phosphorus def the extra potassium will increase nitrogen uptake and help green the girls up as long as soil ph is within 6.5-6.8 ish ph. also I train much later a cpl weeks b4 flower
Some of y’all may remember when I came here I said three out of six plants I had outside in my greenhouse turned out to be males. Well I thought I got them outta there fast enough. But knowing what I know now and looking back at my pictures… I should’ve removed those males about two weeks earlier. Now lets see if I can catch it faster in the future. I found a seed on my GG4 girl. I’ll plant it outside next year and see what I get. The question is which did it cross with. Lol, I’ll never know but if I had to guess based on which plants were closest to each other, I think it crossed with Bright star. Both of my Bright Star were male and one of the Ancestral Skunk were the males.
Girl please?

Don’t worry you’ll find more. I’m sure you’ll have several to plant if you choose.
After speaking to my friend that gave me my set up I decided to harvest the plants outside and concentrate on my grow inside. I topped my GMO plant. Also my Mickey kush (auto) seedling popped up.
